    kookie...

i reckon if you want a dvd deck for that price, get the Sony MEXR1... in JB Hi Fi they're now selling for about $369 but i'm sure you can haggle it down a bit...

i have one and it does everything... only negative i mentioned is the fact it takes a while to read a DVD MP3 disc... but its worth it in the end coz u never have to change music disc again... well not for a very long time...

Like I said... everyone hates sony, so do i, but i got it for the sound quality and features of the deck, and coz it is so cheap u can't go wrong...

I owned the JVC dvd deck before that and the sound quality sucked ass! so i went back to the sony just til something better comes out...

Oh and the Pioneer, IMHO, have one of the best quality decks around... better than Kenwood too... I work in a car audio retailer and I can tell you that we have about 6 Sony decks, 3 Kenwood decks, and 1 Pioneer deck that are broken down out the back room... I have never seen a Pioneer deck come back for repairs or problems apart from this one-off single deck out the back...

If you're getting the Sony, get the extended warranty if you want, but they do come with 2 years warranty from factory anyway...

Thanks for the info. Helped me out heaps

I think the basic Kenwood models would suit you just fine tbh. Just see which is the best model you can get for under $300. Thats what I would do. Try to get one on sale I guess, sorry can't really give any good advice on the models as I'm not too sure of the price.

But I woudl decide on a brand and then go from there. Just try to get a deck which has a 24bit D/A Converter.

I think all the Kenwoods have this feature but I'm not sure, there site really didn't give too much info on the lower models.

Personally I wouldn't get it installed at a place like JB, find a reputable shop and take it there. JB has done some of the worst installs ever. You can buy it at JB but just don't let them butcher your car. But search for some reputable installers and just go buy it from them, at least that way you will get a good install with decent warranty.

If you want some reccomendations let me know and Ill point you to a few shops that I have HEARD do good jobs.

I agree with Sang, thats actually very good value, it has everything you could want.

Also if you ever plan on upgrading to better speakers powered off an amp or a sub using an amp, the 4 volt preouts will really help.

I think thats the one you should get.

                  That Kenwood looks alright...

                  Kenwood KDC-X7529 or Pioneer DEH-P6800MP ?

They're both around the same price!

                    the Kenwood has better features.

personally I still have the pioneer deck that came with the car, I can't afford a new deck right now. It's still kicking, but if I were to choose one id go with the kenwood

If anyone in Sydney wants to have car audio and any ICE installed with a Lifetime Warranty, I know two guys with their own mobile install business.... They used to work where I work, now they work in two different areas... So just let me know...
