    Broken Engine Mount

    Hi guys;

    I checked with my mechanic regarding this engine mount. He said its fine but i disagree. (btw - in the market for a new place to get my car servied. Was thinking hanny's.)

    This engine mount looks broken to me. It can be accessed through the wheel arch of the drivers side. It is visible there.

    My other question is that if it is broken - is it a DIY job?

    Further more; how much will an OEM one set me bacK?

    ps. noticed this when installing mugen airbox.

    Its not completely broken to me.

    If you plan to keep ur car a while longer i would suggest upgrading the mounts.

    Ive upgraded mine and it feels much better especially in shifting feel.

    I got a spare set of innovative at home if u wanna upgrade.

          Was kinda wanting to stick to stock.

            I paid $550 for all 5 mounts, plus $200 install for all.

            ProConcept.

                I am an extremely spirited driver (to say the least)

                I already changed the rear engine mount (to a stock one) - back when I changed my clutch. So much better. Before that something loud was banging when the engine shifted. lol.

                If thats the case - would I have to do all 5???

                  If i could go back in time, id have put innovative mounts (or something similar) in.

                  Im not liking the amount of movement im getting.

                      You look for cracks on the engine mount such as in the pics on the first post.

                      On another note, how would Spoon mounts compare with solid mounts such as Innnovative

                        Solid mounts will definitely stiffer and probably could last forever.

                        Does stiffer always better (in terms of performance wise only)?

                          Hey Elwood, what mounts did you get installed?

                          On my old EG I changed to the spoon mounts at proconept and I was really surprised how much better then the stock were...

                          But then again 2 of my mounts were broken and another on its way out.. hehe

                          But there is definite better response from engine with firmer mounts

                            the ES mount inserts might suit...

                            i put my inserts into broken mounts like yours and still fine... only did the front two (easiest ones!) and it took only 35 mins...
