    Exhausts 101 (Which is Best???)

Ive been doing a heap of research on what is the best exhaust for the DC2R in terms of performance, looks, noise, advantages and disadvantages.

Here are some of the things i have found on the listed exhausts

    FGK (FUJITSUBO)

RM01A - Looks very nice, has perfect bends and welds but doesnt give that race car sound. Sounds high pitched and tinny.
    Apparently gives some good gains.

POWERGETTER - Again very nice, has perfect bends and welds but like the RM01A doesnt give that race car sound. More deep and bassy.
    Apparently gives some good gains.

    SPOON

Spoon N1 - Made by the legendary SPOON workshop and is supposedly one of the best aftermarket exhausts available. But to those who are interested in it CAUTION you may go deaf after driving your car for too long as it is said to be very very loud. But be thankful that you can get a silencer for it.
Apparently also gives some good gains.

    AMUSE

R1 Titan - Made out of titanium and is very bling bling. Quite loud and reeks of quality. But be warned this exhaust is very expensive around $2,500 AUD. Even though this exhaust is very expensive it is not bulletproof and can be destroyed quite easily if not careful when going over bumps (everybody knows how crappy Austrailan roads are.)
    Dont really know about gains

R1000 - Top of the line Amuse exhaust and is a complete straight pipe with not Cat. Very loud and also made out of titanium (so very bling bling). Again another factor with Amuse products is that it is very expensive (around $2,500 AUD). Since its made out of titanium it can also be destroyed quite easily because it sits quite low.
    Dont really know about gains

    J's Racing

FX 60RS - Full titanium and even louder than the Spoon N1. Dont know a great deal about this exhausts but the ITR owners in the UK seem to cherish it as one of the best exhausts on the market and worth every dollar and at $1800 you would hope it would be good. Apparently has some very good gains. Dont know how low it sits sorry guys.

funny thing with exhuast and the reason why rm01 and power getter is so popular is becuase those exhuasts strikes a middle ground.

For people dailying there car a very loud exhuast system is just unreasonable, nor is the possibility of damaging an expensive one. Hence why power getter and rm01a is so popular and your bestchoices if you daily your car as well as track it.

ok... now i have a vision system, and they manufacture for spoon, basicly its the same design just different muffler

and thing is, there is one bottleneck. i assume the bottleneck is to create backpressure, and its fun hitting vtec because it does it with a bang.

i havn't dyno'd my car yet, and bum dyno thinks there are gains. but wouldn't having a bottleneck still be a restriction, thats why i dont fully understand when people claim that spoon gives good gains, i mean, it may give good gains, but i dont see why a fully straight thru system isn't better

ok, first off, as a mate of mine said to me, and i agree with it totally, the choice of a cat back exhaust systems really comes down to two things:

          1. If you like how it looks
          2. If you like how it sounds

I think this applies especially if you still have the OEM exhuast manifold and catalytic converter present and are just looking to bolt on (making it sound easier than it really is ) a after market catback system.

I hear people say they can feel the difference and the gains when they just install their catback, possibly cause it sounds like its quicker and all that...but no matter what catback system you get, you aint gonna get all that much gain other than weight reduction if you go something titanium (something most people, if any will notice at all).

I believe its when you combine a good combination of header, cat back & intake is when you really notice some sort of gain.

As for specifics, i have seen a few of the ones you listed on cars and driven them, so i can give my opinion of them...

Spoon N1: I recently took this one off my car (and its for sale btw ), and its not really as loud as everyone says it is. I ran it without a silencer ever since i got it and i think its fine. It sounds awesome in my opinion, if youre after something that will give your car the 'race car sound'. It also looks quite subtle, but also gives a not-stock look at the same time. Quite droney at idle.

RM01A: My friend and girl friend have this on their cars, and it sounds real nice especially higher up the rev range. Quite down low if youre after something more discreet. Looks nice too, with a nice sized muffler.

Power Getter: My cousin and brother have this on their cars, and it really just sounds like any after market exhuast on the market, as in not really a unique sound. Very quite but it can sound very nice with the right combination of header and intake, and i actually only like how it sounds on my cousin's car. The muffler is massive though, and the tip is overly long for the DC2R's.

Alrighty, im gonna shut up now

Interestly enough when you compare cat back PG with cat back Rm-01A the PG is actually louder.

But after you get aftermarket headers the RM-01A becomes louder then the PG.

                IMO,

                FGK (FUJITSUBO)
RM01A - Gives good gains on dyno. Sound is not too bad.
Higher pitch than Power Getter but still sounds good.
POWERGETTER - Gives exellent power & sound with good cat & header.
                (Over 145kw @ wheels)
Deep throaty sport note which turns to a blasting sound in the topend
Gets my vote for best value off shelf exhaust for power & sound for DC2R (Though it is loud - top end)

                SPOON N1
Little more than junk. (Loud as hell too with a crappy tinny nasty sound)
Power output is pretty ordinary at best.
(Ie: Power output is less than car with same mods, alternative exhaust)
Most local exhaust shops can do a better sounding/looking/performing exhaust without trying real hard which is what you'd be better off using.

                MUGEN twinloop...
Good for upto 145kw @ wheels.
Arguable the quietest DC2 exhaust around.
Still has a deep sporty note with cams / headers / compression

X-Force twinloop in custom 2.5" cat back.
We've seen some of these exhaust on cars that produce over 135kw.
                Highest to date was 144kw
Sound is deep & sporty, not overly loud.
Exellent value for money but be warened, Shop only at good exhaust shops.

When I get my Mugen modded 2.5" B pipe bastardized setup done, ill let you know how it sounds.

But the Mugen wins in my books for a few reasons.

                  1. Amazing quality
                  2. It doesn't sound like a fart can, has a nice burble to it, but howls when v tec hits.

You're in brisbane mate, and there's quite a few people up here running Spoon exhaust, just listern next time there's meet and you'll realise it's not as loud as everyone makes it out to be.

I'm currently running Mugen twin loop on my car atm but wanted to change over to RM01A but no one wanted to buy my Mugen so i sold he RMO1A instead. The quality on both of these are exceptional.

As some have stated it's more of a personal preference. So up to you in da end.

i have fgk pg, very happy with the quality, fit and finish. personally i love the long tip, makes it look unique, not like any of the other cannon/N1-style mufflers out there..i use the car as daily driver and find it sounds great without being excessively loud and attracting the wrong attention..from the dyno runs vs stock it seems fujitsubo's power increase claim of 3-4kW is reasonable. i would highly recommend this for a dialy driver, esp. if u find the mugen is too quiet or u dont like the twinloop look (like me), and something like BC3 is too loud..

Check power output on par/exceeds J's Racing RS series. Amuse R1 Titan is the equal of J's Racing 60R pipes. Amuse R1000 is the equal of J's Racing 70R pipes.

Titanium is thin but is superior in strength vs. any other metal available for exhaust systems. It's impossible to destroy with endless scraping or silly driveway/speed humps, you'd need to literally be delibrately creating cause to destroy it. The pinnacle of performance, bar none.

Ironically - Your usual traders never mention anything about Amuse.
