Nope thats not what he is saying, there built for different purposes. I don't see that many charades doing 200+k's down the highway.
Just get the oem fluid and change it every 10K, be done with it. Or better yet try Amsoil --> Pure synthetic.
Manuel I think perhaps you should search some dedicated oil sites, go to amsoils site or bob the oil guy or whatever, better than joe blow on here giving you advice/Oo ___H___ oO\

build quality etc come into play. The original EJ20 gearboxs and Mazda Familia GTX (Even GTR - BPT) are known to be quite weak. Differant gearbox oils have differant things in them to etc etc... so there are alot of differant veriables that come into the equation... and you can't just put it down to the laws of physics...
If you read the link I posted that has all the information in there... because i don't really feel like repeating myself

I think you should try some baby oil in there or some sex lube and let us know how it goes, that shit is slippery./Oo ___H___ oO\

Now guys, i dont want to start arguments,
But I am asking about the K series 6speed box. there are 3 variation of but it shouldn't matter much.
I don't get crunches or anthing like that. I just have the opportunity so put some expensive oil in it and wanted to know what would be good. I currenty use MTF 06 and change every 10k
I don't think that experiences on a DC2 box is really relevant,Last edited by PolitoHood; 04-04-08, 12:07 PM.Nankangs, Better than Your-Mums-Cans

Before i had the issues with my gearbox i was being told by people (on this forum i beleive) that the redline oil bonds together, and that I should change in quiet regularly if i plan to continue using it. At this time my mechanic (whome race a DC5r and build/service many track cars[Centrax Auto]) and myself where quiet happy with the results of the redline fluid, as it got rid of the 2nd gear crunch, as did make the gearbox feel more direct
It was about a month or so before my gearbox died my mechanic asked if i was still using the redline oil, and informed me that they no longer supply or reccomend it as a few of there customers have been experiancing problems (ie broken gearbox's) due to the gearbox oil bonding. At this time I deceied that next service i would change the oil to OEM... but before that happened my gearbox broke.
Please ring Centrax (Steven - 07 3349 7888) if you would like to discuss this matter more as i dunno the in's and out's of the oil, and he only really explained the basics to me.

what did they say when you told them that your gearbox broke due to using redline oil?

i say you go with what u want to try.. if the result is good why not.. imo is pretty darn hard to prove a single use of oil caused catastrophic failure in a gearbox (unless you did something silly like put maple syrup instead of Gearbox oil)
El Dc5 you own a Dc5s? correct?
theres a flaw that some of us DC5s owners have picked up is a very weird 3rd gear Notchyness.. so far i noticed this on Dc5s with OEM MTF in it.. but i cant prove otherwise since none of the Dc5s owners i know have moved to a different Fluid. (although we soon be trying Redline Light weight shockproof on a mates Dc5s) i supose the results will follow after if that annoying Notchy thing disappears..
but for Dc2 gearboxes so far my favorite is Gear 300 from motul, followed by Redline Light weight shockproof, castrol syntrax.
and the rest..
i actually thought OEM MTF really wasent impressive in my gearbox.. i had it in my car for less than 1000km and already i felt there was a notch that wasent there with other oils.. so i swapped it out for Redline..
then again this is all my personal thoughts on gearbox oils.. and might not reflect other members opinions.Memorable quotes

I may seem strange, but the reason im asking all these question is because an opportunity has come up that will enable me to score some free oil ie. (only Redline or Royal Purple).
So i wanted peoples opinions. But that said Its a daily driver with 27,000ks on it with no Issue.
So if there isn't a clear answer i will have to pay for the MTF 06 FTL!!!!Nankangs, Better than Your-Mums-Cans
