The best Ti exhaust

Hi guys, its time for me to change my exhaust and manifold on my DC5R, so I thought that I would open this thread to work out what is the best (FULL) titanium exhaust for a K20 that wont rev more than 9000rpm.

By best, the following things, and maybe some others, should be considered:

*Total weight
*Build quality
*Sound
*Power increase

From what I have seen, the only ones really available are the Amuse and J's...

Also, the J's 70RR requires the Spoon type or JDM K20A exhaust header primary section. Would it be better to use the Spoon header and the 70RR or a 60RS and a TODA manifold?

Your such an amuse whore Jing. Its a wonder your car isn't graced with any amuse parts.

As Jing hinted, the J's 70RR setup won't give you any room to fit in a cat, unless if you cut the J's exhaust which would be blasphemous. I think this would be the better of the two setups performance wise, however would be very illegal to run on the street.

no resonators and runs over axle instead of under like the Amuse R1

$2600 for an exhaust though is imo too dear.....maybe when im a millionaire lol.
I was actually thinking about purchasing one of these exhaust before and it made sense that i pay less for a stainless exhaust and spend money elsewhere which in the long run would give me better gains anyway. Suspenions, braces, wheels etc.

Off the top of my head you have a number of options in quality off the shelf Ti exhausts.

Amuse:
R1 unresonated (60mm) (3.55kg)
R1 resonated (60mm) (4.75kg)
Extra Titan (60mm) (5.5kg)

M and M Honda: Extremely expensive
60mm
70mm (Both these exhausts use resonators and oval tail mufflers as far as I can tell, Also I am not sure whether the 70mm is still in production)

J's Racing:
60RS (5.4kg)
70RR (5.9kg) (includes 2-1 de-cat pipe. J's also make a 4-2 manifold designed to be mated to this exhaust. Looks nice.)

Tracy Sports: I have heard suggestions that these exhausts are made to the same standard as Amuse, possibly even using the same materials. Also extremely expensive!

70mm (I think that this one includes a 2-1 de-cat pipe similar to the J's 70RR)

I have the Amuse R1 Titan (unresonated) and it is a very good quality exhaust. Takes a beating on the street and track and still looks practically brand new. The exhaust fits perfectly, and the only complaint I would have is that it hangs slightly low, although this is common on dc5 exhausts.

Of all the titanium systems it is the lightest cat back as far as I know. Overall weight loss might be better with the J's 70RR however since the Ti 2-1 pipe will weight significantly less than stock. When weighed on my kitchen scales the exhaust weighed closer to 3.7kg rather than the 3.55kg claimed by amuse .

For street use I would go with an Amuse R1 Titan (Either unresonated or resonated depending on noise preference) and a decent exhaust manifold with a cat fitted of course. For track either the J's or Tracy Sports 70mm with either the J's or Spoon 4-2 manifold.

There is sadly no R1000 available for DC5 . Although for DC2 you are correct there is an R1000 which goes under the rear suspension instead of over it . I saw a pic of an Amuse R1000 for EK before and it was awesome looking. A straight pipe with one weld bend to go under the rear suspension and a tiny muffler , if I had a DC2 that would be my exhaust of choice .

J's Racing and Amuse exhaust systems makes almost identical power and J's Racing is slightly cheaper due to outsourcing their work. Hence, J's Racing is alot more popular vs. Amuse who does all the work and R&D in house unlike J's Racing.

As for strictly titanium, Amuse has the superior leadership on craftmanship and finish. Not to mention, their titanium is of a higher grade. J's Racing downfall is their titanium material and muffler type.

Performance wise, J's Racing is a leading contender and outdoes Amuse in certain aspects. Their exhaust manifolds produce alot more power vs. Amuse despite the cheaper pricing differences as well.

In short, you look to one tuning house for one type of product and another for something else. There isn't one rule of sticking strictly by one. Smart mix and match on the correct combination ultimately produces the best performance aspect bar none.
