    Base auto owner with exhuast

    Hi guys,

Does your base auto feel power lost when you put on a aftermarket/custom exhaust? Particularly at the low end?

Currently, I've got a custom 2.25" catback & a hotdog behind the stock cat & header. But for some reason I just feel it's not pulling as hard as it was in stock. Some of my mates say it's because there is no back pressure due to my engine output and increased pipe size.... I'm just confused.

Can any base auto owner share some exp on this?
    1. Would a intake upgrade (say injen cai) overcome this problem?
    2. I'm think change the setup to DC5R/S header and Catback, would it's improve performance in this case?

Thanks in advance. (Got auto for family reason, please dont say get a TypeR/S)

i would have considered a DC5R/S setup before a custom setup anyday for a base auto

I had a base auto, bought 5Zigen Miracle Fireball catback made to fit the base auto...didn't like it one bit...loud and didn't feel any faster than stock.

i then bought a DC5R header, cat and catback, i loved it!...then fitted a powergetter exhaust on that setup...loved that even more...

thanks tofu, that clears some of my doubts

looks like i'll be in market for a header and catback shortly

the dc5r/s header fit on base directly yeh? no mod required?

directly bolts on, but you will need the cat from the DC5R/S too.

if you're going to get a jdm header you will need the jdm cat...because the jdm header is a 4-2 design..
          the Austraian DC5R is a 4-1 design...

i got better response mid range when i installed a australian typeR header and cat. the base model header is a joke...

that is correct about the size and restriction of the base header/cat
even the catback on the stock base model is restrictive.

hey prusso, try Adrian at TODA, I asked him to keep in eye on a stock header and cat.

tofu, i'm looking to upgrade the header and cat, will the ep3r header be the best for this application? i want to stay with oem.

you need to change sway bar if you go jdm header

                z10 says:
i bet you will have 10000 wheels when you are done

i'm not sure about the specs of the ep3r stock header and cat, i haven't seen one myself.

but i know the DC5S oem header is similar if not better than than OzTypeR

yeh, that'll be my ideal solution, to swap with the whole DC5S system (header, cat, catback), think DC5S pipe is larger than AUDM dc5r

If it's too rare to find, i might settle with the jdm ep3r/dc5r header with a audm cat and of course the sway bar.

if you can find an entire DC5S exhaust system let me know if you want to swap the stock TypeS catback for my powergetter..
