    New EG owner

Hi all, just bought myself a EG Civic VTi, in briiight arse red. I'm bloody impressed by it (well, obviously, I liked it enough to buy it). Never thought a 1.6L could do anything useful, my bad. Anyway, the gearbox broke 9kms away from it's former home (yes, driving it home and something went bang).

Basically, left a set of traffic lights, first gear, second gear, third gear+crunch.
Clutch was fully depressed when I slotted the shifter into third, then let it out... cruuunch
pulled over in a side street, got it going in second (crunch crunch crunch, thump, clutch engages) then drove it 3kms home in second gear. Tried to change into 3rd but wouldn't let me, had to stop the car then get going in second again.

So, regardless of what's at fault, what kind of damage am I looking at for a B16A halfcut? For me a B18C isn't worth it. There's an auto B16A halfcut here in Adelaide at www.adelaidejap.com.au but there's absolutely no way I'm getting an auto. Anyone know what they're worth from Ichiban? I know they're the cheapest place to get a WRX cut, but obviously this is a different kettle of fish. I'm not fussed over where in Oz it is, as most importers are in Sydney or SE Queensland I know.

Help me get my first car back on the road!! (please?)

    Cheers all

another option (if you wrote the time when u collected the car/signed transfer papers) is you are entitled to your money back...
the car broke down within 24hrs of ur ownership. theres a leway...
dun quote me on it, but sum1 once told me bout this.

Yeah, the owner will take it back if I don't want it, but I do. Next cheapest EG VTi is $7,200 on carsales.com.au. Even if I choose to get the car repaired, I'll be a long way ahead.

So, anyone got any advice for the B16A cut? I've found one in Brisbane for $2,000.

They have traders galore selling this stuff. Also, Danny (i think hes still active on citr, evo driver) is selling a b16a - not sure about the half-cut though.

No idea yet. Once the car has been inspected to find out exactly what the problem is, then I'll decide what to do.

Turns out it does yes just need a new clutch, 90% of people & mechanics thought it was stripped gears. One/more of the springs had come adrift in the clutch.

Auto B16's have different cams to the manual B16 variants so that the peak power is made lower.

A second hand gearbox for a d series motor is quite cheap (because there is so many of them) There is a wreaker in Vic has them for ~$290
