    car blows smoke

    Hey guys

I just got a paranoid question hehehe sorry if its really noob for you all But just a question about smoke coming out of exhaust when im ripping my car. Thats normal correct ?? With any car if u floor the accelerator all that smoke is is the fuel being burnt correct ??

Also i heard if u use vpower petrol its worse yes ??

What colour is the smoke for starters.

As a rule of thumb... Blackish/blue = okay, white = bad.

Why does everyone think 100RON V-power is awsome!

It isn't... they just add more ethanol. I'd stick with BP or Mobil 98 if I were you guys.

                nah,

                "V-Power" = 98 RON

                "V-Power Racing" = 100RON

I have had the same dillemna.

Been using V-power however due to the Type R having a smaller engine, i have moved on to the 100 octane V-power racing.

I noticed a slight difference however got mixed reviews when asking various mechanics and people.

They say higher octane rating so better.
Others say - 5% ethanol is bad for fuel filter and clogs the cat. better stick with cleaner 98 RON.

                    This contradicts the Shell website.

I get the same thing with the smoke.
If I drive my car in the city and dont VTEC it - it clogs up - then when I do rev it out it blows black smoke. I figured its the injectors and cat clogging up.

I thought the rule of thumb was Black smoke = OK Blue Smoke = uh oh... engine oil burning...

"Car exhaust comes in three colors plus invisible. Black indicates unburned or poorly burned fuel (gasoline, not oil). This could be related to changing oil if, in the process, something was knocked loose; the vacuum hose of the fuel pressure regulator seems the likeliest suspect. But black exhaust may have no relation to your oil change—a bad sensor, computer error, or other gremlins could be the cause. If the car were burning oil excessively, the exhaust would be blue. And if coolant were leaking into the combustion chambers, billows of white would follow you wherever you drove, which wouldn’t be far. A lesser plume of white is usual on cold starts as water in the exhaust system is vaporized, but this ends when the car warms up—and then you can’t see the exhaust at all."

ethanol is meant to burn cleaner and more environmentally friendly then fossil based fuels, i guess in any case unless there proper testing done who know what to believe they could tell you any thing to make you buy it

i know my dad has had allot of moisture related problems with E10 in his Suzuki though it is out side all the time

though if you having trouble with clogging issues maybe try some system cleaner (upper engine cleaner like Subaru uses as apart of there service's)

When i first got my Teg, who i got off a middle aged lady who portably didn't know what Vtec was. I though it would of been grannied most of its young life so i ran some system cleaner though it, seemed to make it pull allot harder in 3th 4th and 5th and had a louder exhaust note, do you think maybe my cat was clogged ?. In any case i got better mileage after as well

hey guys. to my problem in my first post. Im just talking about when u floor ur accelrator and ur revs go to high rev zone. Its normal for lil bit of black smoke to come out of ur exhaust correct ? because all that is is the fuel being burnt right ?? normal driving i dont get any smoke at all just when i put the peddle to the metal.
