    CiviC type R - Turbo?

    All,
First post on this forum. Looking to get rid of my current wheels and get a civic type R within the next week or so. Im looking to get a turbo put on stragiht away I was hoping others in the forum may have done the same or can recommend a good turbo for it. Any info on type of turbo, setup, workshop you can reccommend and any performance improvements you have got or heard of others getting would be greatly

    thx

If you want a turbo car why you buying a NA car and turboing it......doesn't make sense to me.....and I reckon its a waste of $$...you better off buying a S15 and do some upgrade ....for the same amount of $$ you get better output.....and it should work better.....

yep if you want a turbo car, buy one already turbo'd and work it from there - it'd save alot of headaches and money, performance wise.
      sif it's a girls car

^True true to the above statements, but a turbo Honda is fantastic to drive!

Your first post is to broad a statement,
What kind of CTR are you referring to?
What is your purpose for the car?
What is your budget for this project?

Theres too many options available to you...

turbo will cost around $7k to $12k

i would recommend Toda Racing Australia to talk to about options.

no person on this forum has turbo'd a Civic Type R,

one person has supercharged a Integra Type R with good results though...

a turbo'd CTR woudl be very very fast, but you would need to improve reliability to ensure that it does not damage the engine... e.g. cooling system upgrades
          ... retired/

Honda engines DO make great turbo engines.
When built properly, they are equally comparable to a sr20, especially when you have all the componentry to make the engine reliable

Obviously a stock turbo Honda engine is not going to be as reliable as stock sr20 engine simply because it wasn’t designed for a boost application, but if built for a boost application, it makes a fantastic boost candidate.

If you spend $10K on NA mods and $10k on turbo mods, the turbo car is going to leave the NA car for dead.

The more power you make, the more likely there is for other componentry to break.

I would strongly recommend speaking with Adrian at Toda Racing as he has had a lot of experience in both NA and Turbo Honda's, both stock and built engines.

mm although im all Pro Turbo.. i have trouble imagining it in the New CTR engine bay just because theres like no space in there!..

even in the Dc5 with K20 the turbokits got scaryly close to some lines which you end up having to protect with heatshielding or thermal tape. it prolly could be done.. but gee it would be a tight fit =P.. no puns intended =P..

having said that.. i might almost be better of buying a turboed car.. because ctr aint cheap and modding it prolly more expensive because theres not many thats actually done it yet..

but im With Qball Turbo Honda are great to drive =P

It depends on the type of CTR that he has,

AVO kits for the b series motor offer relatively good bang for bucks with a simple bolt on kit that fits behind the oem bumper etc, and without having to remove AC and PS.
That would set you back around 5k+ tune.

Please tell me your talking about turboing the ep3!

its alot cheaper than the fn2 therfore money you can spend on your car.

although quite rare to find a true EK9 here in melbourne..

its possible.. but the Vtir (integra and Civic EK4 and EM1) and GSI fit the AVO kits very well.. just goto know whos the monkey tuning your car or trust them =P..

other than that as for type R civics we have the EP3r? and FD2r? and the FN2r

which i have to say i have only seen the EP3r get done up.. i think...

We technically dont get the Ek9 or the Ep3r either here in aus..

but they get down here as personal imports or dare i say it "dodgy" dealings

fn2r has no space in it to put in a turbo and all the necessary bits...
you have to take off the windscreen garnish to change spark plugs, so i don't know ho you're going to fit one in there...
but doesn't silverwater automotive have a turbo honda over there? or crd?
                            '08 Odyssey + '10 Mazda CX-7 (fs btw) + '10 Mazda 2
wife made me sell the FN2R. bleh.
