JDM DC5r headers on AUDM DC5r

    Hey guys

Well I FINALLY (after almost a year and a half) got my JDM DC5r headers fitted to my car. As some of you maybe thinking “pfft, stock JDM headers… so what” well there is actually a BIG difference when it comes to AUDM and JDM

JDM: 4-2-1 construction, high flow cat, perfectly mates upto aftermarket exhausts
AUDM: 4-1 (the 1 section looks like a dump pipe).

After taking the AUDM headers off they are actually a 4-2-1 construction, as there is something wedged in the middle of the pipe. Also the pipes that come off the head are very small. And you can see why putting on aftermarket headers on an AUDM makes such an improvement.

After looking at the JDM headers, and then a set of Toda’s and so on, you can see the similarities. The only differences being the material used, and diameter of the pipe used (aftermarket being larger).

But less about the actually headers, and how they actually go on the car. Of course with having a design like this, top end is the part that is going to be most affected, and there is actually a noticeable improvement. The higher revs seem more free flowing.

After having them on the car for a few days and driving in a few different conditions, there is an all-round improvement. The entire rev range seems to have benefited.

Only “complication” to the headers was the front sway bar having to be changed and the exhaust sensor having to be extended. But you’ll find you’ll have to do this with every aftermarket header you get… and upgrading your sway bars is about the most satisfying modification you’ll ever do to your DC5r (just make sure you do the back one to)

For those of you with the stock AUDM headers wanting to upgrade, but not sure what to go with, I would recommend you look into the JDM header option. They are a great design, a fair bit cheaper then all aftermarket options (even 2nd hand ones) and don’t necessary need an aftermarket ECU to get them to run right.

Enjoy the read guys… and if you have any more questions just ask.

they're great headers for the price. If only you posted this up before I got rid of my car, someone could have had them for a bargain lol

i might get a dyno run done in the future... but i have put a few other things on since then... so it won't be a "true" reading... Not that a dyno reading is a true reading to start with.

Comparing them to other brands... you are going to be able to go out and buy a better header (to start out with, these headers are made of cast iron...) but the fact that most of the other aftermarket headers have the same design (minus the two section design), means that they MUST be good.

I have my original Jdm headers lying about along with the cat which is a bit

frayed and worn looking unfortuneately(headers are immaculate).

I was planning on passing them on with the car which is going up for sale

            very soon.

I May consider a decent offer for them if anyone is interested?

So you cannot use the stock AUDM DC5R sway bar with the JDM headers ?

                What bout whiteline or ep3?

yeh just about any aftermarket ones (have to be JDM) will fit. EP3 is most common replacement for dc5 with headers

doesn't have to be JDM. whiteline clear the headers too.

I think most, if not all aftermarket sway bars fit the JDM/Aftermarket headers.

                              I did 120kws atw's on TODA dyno.

Had JDM Headers+Cat, TODA Catback, Blox pod filter in stock box and RCREW Intake plenum on stock ecu

Stock DC5R did 109kws for reference.

ANother one had custom 2.5" catback and gruppeM did 115kws
