Spoon twin block calipers on DC2 VTIR

hey guys,

Got some questions in regards to the installation of spoon twin block calipers on a dc2 vtir. Just wanted to know if i would need a hub spacer to center the brake pads or something? was speaking to someone and they mentioned this to prevent brake shudder at high speeds?

Also would a 3mm spacer be suficient for a +40 offset 16x7 wheel?

16x7 needs 5mm at least. Then again, 3 and 5mm is minimally insignificant. I don't understand how a hub spacer is necessary though. Brake shudder at high speeds could be related to just about everything else. Rotors, pads, brake bias - booster relevance just some things off the top of my head.
