it is a "drive by" test and the dB for drive by is 70ish, not 90ish,

the staionary 90 is measured on a 45' angle abt 1m from the exhaust

the drive by 70 is measured with the Mic on a tripod aimed generally at the road...

I think I might be able to pass the 90dB test if it's 1m away

in the case of some cars, the intake might be more of a concern than the exhaust at around the vtec point, don't u think?

Jasma approved is road legal. Japan's dB output rating is on the same level as most developed nations. While AU gets it's preferential control guidelines off a standard EPA charter used worldwide based on environmental laws/considerations and then makes modifications relevant to the local country/continent.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but just wondering what JASMA exactly is and does it hold ground in Australia in terms of police?

Jasma have nth to do with Aus road laws......its just a local thing for Japan...The Full name should be <<The Japan Automotive Muffler Association>>...its a government body of the Japan government to apply regulation on how the muffler should be done and if its approved then they will put the JASMA plate on it....their web page is www.jasma.org ....

Are they allowed to open your bonnet and take a dB from the engine?
