    Best Car Cover

    Hey All,

Even though my car is friggin garaged, I am now shopping for a good car cover. Can anyone recommend one? I've heard some bad stories of some bad examples actually scratching the car etc, so I'm a bit cautious about buying the wrong one.

Why am I getting one? I friggin cleaned and polished my car last weekend and it's been sitting in the garage all week in its pristine state and tonight I noticed all these scratches on the door panel and fender where someone has come into the house, probably carrying something like shopping and not been careful round my car! Not happy!

Anyway, if you can recommend one, let me know.

    Cheers!

i guess u gota spend a bit extra... i see some covers that start from $20 at supercheap, where u can kinda tell that once it touches ur surface it can scratch... i think u need to find one with a soft type material (on the "underside" to help prevent any unwanted scratches. seen some that go around $200ish..but yeh shop around first. u get what u pay for most the time though.

get a custom one that will fit the dc5s like a glove, your best bet is the dealer.

I have a custom one for the DC2R and im amazed at how well it fits and the quality of it, it doesn't feel that soft but it hasnt scratched the car.

Although I don't use it when the car is dirty

Sang you read my mind!! Are you looking for one that would be for outdoors and indoors...or just outdoors?

I would be interested in getting a custom fitted one that goes over my wing though. Should organise a group buy of some form in your usual style?

i think its also gotta be a specific sort of material, ie/ breathable.

Cause if its plastic and traps mositure in there, or something and fuks up the paint.. well so ive heard.

Kenco by Dupont ... Nothing else comes close. Best fabric, can be washed, gentle on cars. Wouldn't use anything else. Though it's approximately $200+ entry fee into the club.

ok, i dont know if you guys know but in jdmland honda makes a specific car cover for the DC5R. not sure about the DC2R. not sure about quality either. but its a genuine honda accessory. i've asked zi to quote the price. might be worth a group buy on. that or we could group buy some aftermarket one?

US Honda/Acura has factory car covers as well, apart from paying for the "Honda/Acura" label and the exact shape cut out, it really isn't any more impressive.

A very important factor to consider when paintwork is very critical as the cover will be in full contact - When you try to put an "exact fit", it'd be a bitch to get it right. When that happens, the lower ends of the cover that touches the ground or contact parts of the car will unwillingly touch/scratch/contact the other parts. What you'd end up with is free scratches for the label love.

No thanks ... I've been using car covers for over a decade now, and I wouldn't put on a tight fit cover on indoor or outdoor. You end up fucking the paintwork up rather. What you'd need is a loose, easy slide off/on type. If you need to modify the cover to be so, do it. Your paintwork is worth more 10 fold.

Yeah I agree with noel. Tight covers, you'll find yourself walking around adjusting the cover by pulling it over a bit more etc. and that will result in the fabric rubbing. Loose fit ones you just throw over and b'cos it's loose and oversized you soon get the hang of how to throw it over the car without needing to adjust it.

Forgot to mention sizes ... Yes, I bought an XL and an L over the years to have them modified for my cars. Can find them in Repco and SuperCheap as well. Don't know if entertainment book or general discount periods apply though.
