    battery

    hey all...

the battery in the teggy has died... (or almost has). so i was wondering if there is any particular battery (brand, size, power output) that is good...

just thought this would be a good time to get a decent battery. not sure if it would ever so slightly improve anything to do with the car.... but thought i would ask.

    thanks all

Go to Big W or K Mart try and get an exide maintainance free battery. the one which is sealed and doesn't need water.

Mine was 80 bucks and it starts the car

I got a Super Charge battery from Autobarn for $90. It has 450CCA and I've never had a problem with it in the past 12 months.

Just make sure the new battery's cold cranking amp (CCA) is atleast the same as stock, if not more.

Stock is a lot less than 450CCA

I've always replaced my batteries with ACDelco, which seem to be pretty good. I guess there are limited criteria for a battery: correct size, sufficient CCA and life?

My car cranks like a damn Porsche GT3 even when we both have plenty/ample cranking power, only comparison I had so far when both cars were getting started at the same time and took just as long.

Kewl, so it's safe to say anything over 400 CCA will be enough to get it started

Two major things can affect CA (cranking amps); temperature and base voltage. Not all cranking amps are rated at 0 degrees; some are measured at 32, and 80. However the different temperatures often have new names applied. For example, the CCA at 80 degrees is often referred to as HCA (hot cranking amps), and those measured at 32 degrees are called CA (cranking amps).

The battery I have is definitely labeled "CCA: 450" and it has no troubles in starting the car.
