alright maybe i should steer away from analogies and talk simple science...

the longer a pipe is the more internal resistance to airflow there will be and less cfms delivered to the engine.

by the way i just did your test with just air. here were my procedures..
    1. find 4 identical straws
    2. connect 3 of the straws end on end but inserted the end of one into the other and repeat for the third.
    3. hold your nose so as to block your nostrils from intaking air
    4. breathe out deeply so your lungs are almost empty
    5. take the short straw and draw air through it.
    6. repeat steps 4 and 5 with the long straw

and yes, there was a noticeable difference. it wasn't SFA difference. i invite everyone to perform this test. it costs nothing and is easy enough to do.

but if you're not intune with your breathing senses to tell the difference. next time a friend is smoking up, ask him to do it through each of the long straw and short straw connected to his bong so you can visually see how long it takes him to inhale the smoke from the chamber.

one more thing... if length of pipe makes SFA difference, howcome injen sell both the SRI and CAI?

perhaps i could ask them. i'm sure this is a frequently asked question...

Yes, these are key components to maintaining throttle response and optimum gains between horsepower and torque. Injen makes careful decisions in these areas through use of extensive testing.
But hey what the f%#k would they know, apparently nothing...

Not to get in between of a Brisbane argument. I hate to say but the owner with the better and quicker car would have an apparent concern for a better understanding of what they're doing. Apart from having the budget, knowledge is second nature vs. catalogue enthusiasts.

well if u mean tony vs me, we're pretty close. he has cams though and has spent alot more than me.

i'd probably disagree with your statement though unless we were both building full on race cars. ...though i think that's tony's objective. it's not quite mine.

if we wanted to take that approach though. lets compare tony's car to centrax auto's car. http://www.centraxauto.com.au/. they do not distribute mugen parts by the way. they are an official distributor of zeal/endless parts. they are using a mugen airbox though and their car/driver is faster than tony's car/tony on QR.

Isn't Chris a very aggressive driver? P/S - I know the Centrax team and usual Centrax clientele fairly well (If you don't know by now).

While your car was sick, I happen to be there at the same period of time (Perks of my job). Setup/knowledge ... Regardless, we aren't talking on the same page.

Still not getting into a Brisbane argument.

oh man...this thread has turned just like that caliper thread....one starts a post asking about intake....then ppl jumping in saying this is better and this is crap

injen does not = crap, thats's if you want peak power and dont care about response, it's dyno proven with good gains

if you can afford it and willing to pay...there are stuff better out there

stop the fight and group hug time

                      z10 says:
i bet you will have 10000 wheels when you are done

i dont think that's been the case for most of this thread at all, eddie.

from the start people have stated the benefits of all intakes, summarized very nicely by yourself above.

it was just one or two that were insistent on disproving the drawbacks of one of the suggested intakes, and that is where the discussion and debate was had. i don't think the debate became an argument until this morning when maybe i hit a nerve with one of my earlier posts. i certainly didn't mean to, but then after i just couldn't help myself. ok so i'm guilty. sorry all.

all this reading is giving me cravings... for a gruppeM intake!

dunno about u cai owners but when i accelerate part throttle to WOT from low revs, say around 3000rpm there's def a lag, like 1/2 sec which is slightly annoying... but its more than compensated by the sound and power up the top end... def pulls harder thank stock!
