Thats true. I raced a del sol for a couple of years and for comparison, the del sol with a build B18CR went around Phillip Island roughly the same time as my EG with a B16A (1:58 ish), while the same B18C in the EG went round in 1:55
The weight of the del Sol was 1140kgs (weighed at a weigh bridge)
As said, they are heavy for the little car that they are. Like any convirtable/targa top, the absence of roof calls for more support in the floor, hence the extra weight.
In saying that though. There is still heaps that you can take out of the car to reduce weight. So its not a dead end to get a delsol.
As for compatibility of parts. The delsol is an EG so the EG civics of the same era are the same.
