    DC5R - Knocking Sound

    Hi guys

This is my first post here (altho ive met a couple of u guys at a glenny meet ) and hope that you guy can help me out.

I recently had my front engine mount change by Honda because it was broken in the hope of getting rid of a knocking sound when i accelerate.

However, changing the mount did not solve the issue, the same knocking sound remains when i initially accelerate. It is most noticeable during changes in the first 3 gears.

I am also told by the Honda people that "the top AC pipe is hitting on top sway bar when engine rocking"

    Any ideas?

    Thanks...

Welcome to the boards! Make sure you do an intro thread in the lounge when you get a chance.

Take a look through here for common DC5R noises and etc: http://forum.clubitr.com.au/showthre...ht=clutch+line

    In particular this one: http://forum.clubitr.com.au/showpost...86&postcount=2

If that doesn't solve the issue, give us a better description of the rattling - ie. loud, soft, constant, occasionally, etc.

      Is the car standard?

try looking for the offending AC pipe, on my car they are just silver aluminium, find all the places where it might rub and cable tie some sort of insulation (the round black foam stuff) wherever you can see it might be possible...

Does it happen in neutral as well? I dont know if you've ever seen the motor move on a car on the dyno but some motors have quite alot of movement (5-6cm)

open you bonnet.. (could even get someone to hold it up)
pull hand brake up nice and tight
rock the engine (try using clutch abit)

get someone to view it from the side

        ELSE
borrow a hoist with the arms
lift the car off the ground about 10cm
        then rock the engine

and make sure it isnt your wheel nuts coming loose
