toda spec c cams and turbo k20a - compatiable?

hey guys, im thinking of boosting my car, im running toda spec c cams atm, with a compression ratio of 11.5:1,
would this combination be ideal for a turbo? do i hav to go back to stock cams if i go turbo?
finally, would it be cheaper to say buy a full-race turbo kit, or do a custom job? cheers any help would be great

I think the toda C's are fine, but more so suited to 'all out' Turbo Setups. Maybe Adrian can help more there.

In regard to Full Race turbo kits. I was considering getting one for my DC2R, but decided to design my own kit. I has been a very good experience and I have got some great feedback from people that have been there done that.

Full race are very good kit, but you can do better than what they offer.

Depends what you want out of your car and if you have the time etc, but you can design a much better turbo setup, for not much more than if you got a Full Race kit landed on your door.

The Spec C's will work well so long as the turbocharger is large enough.
If you're going to use the "Full Race" kit, use the Pro Street Stage 2 GT kit or better.
Be sure to use a kit including a GT turbocharger.
If the turbo is too small, you will encounter problems.

You will also need larger injectors, fuel rail & fuel pump.
Boost will be ok to 7~8psi.
In addition to turbo components, you should also use a PWR radiator or similar together with a good oil cooler is you are going to see any track time.

a custom kit does sound nice, but isnt it alot easier to buy a kit?
and im running a hondata k100, would i hav to change to kpro at all, or a diff ecu? how much power do u think i would get combined wit a garret gt30 or gt35 turbo wit these cams? are there any difference it would make compared to the stock cams?
cheers thanks for the replies guys

It is easier to buy a kit,
If you have an experienced builder, a custom kit can be better. (or a lot better)
That said, if they don't know so much, it could be a lot worse then something off the shelf.
Use the full race kit as a bench mark.

          Re K-100
This is fine, it can be retuned.
It's good for up to 12psi using the std MAP sensor.

Using GT30, you can expect to see 210~220kw @ the wheels @ 7psi
          This is with std cams.
Spec C's with a GT30 or GT35 will see an extra 30kw at the same boost.
          Further, boost response is better.

Bare in mind, you're pushing the limit of the std bottom end doing this.
Usually, I'd suggest to get the car turbocharged 1st & see what you think of having 210kw.
If you want more, sure, get some cams.
Most people are happy with that amount of power.
In your case, turbo it, see how it goes.
If it's too much, pop the std cams back in.

          Hope that helps,
          Cheers

          Adrian
