    100,000 KMS service

Hi everyone, my DC2R is on 97000 KMS atm, it has had the timing belt changed on the 80KM servcie. It has full log book history and has always been maintained at honda. What needs to be done on the 100,000 kms service. Also I tried doing a search for service maunals on the site, does anyone have a link for the DC2r service man?

    Regards,

    Arian

Are timing belts supposed to be changed at 80k? Mine has not been changed yet.

I always thought it was 100,00km's or 5 years, whichever came first.

My car is 8 years old and I dont think the timing belt has been changed yet.
        and still on 80,000km's.

Look in your service logbook, it should tell you there.

Does anyone have a strong opinion on timing belts - I have a 2000 DC2 with 65K on the clock - the kays go on slow on my car.... do I change the belt early or wait till 80K ?

I would change it every 100,000kms or 5 years. Maybe just do it at the 70K.

Personally I would change whatever comes first...either 5 years or 100,000km

Also, depending on how hard you drive, you might change it earlier.

If you drive slow and never milk it, then I'd change at 100,000km. If you drive hard everywhere you go, I'd change things earlier .... much like fluids etc.

I did all the major stuff on mine at 80,000 clicks. If compression etc remains good, then seals should be good ... so when I get to 100k, it would be just an oil change.

In reality, find a mechanic that is trustable and change what ‘really’ needs to be changed so that you are not wasting money on parts that are not required.

What 'really' needs to be changed then? How are you going to know what needs to be changed and what doesn't?

Arian, just follow what the logbook says...

and FYI, when I did my 100k service on my DC2R, it included the following:

                      - Oil filter & change
                      - Flushed radiator and topped up with new coolant
                      - Fuel filter
                      - Spark plugs
                      - Water pump
                      - Timing belt and tensior
                      - Power steering pump & new fluid as well.

That's all I can think of atm but I rang around and people were asking close to 1k for parts and labour. I ended up getting a mate of mine to do it all for half the price

GPC did my 100l service for $600, parts and labour... though like hebe said, every other place wanted 700 - 1000

That will depend whether you have changed any parts recently and how precise you follow your service manual. For example, you decided to upgrade your spark plugs say 4000kms before your 100,000kms service or if they are yet considered in good condition then you don’t need to follow the log and change that specific part.

It all comes to common sense and yes it is advised you do follow the service manual. However, not necessary all the time if you want to save a few bucks for other performance upgrades.

rubber deteriorates over time - that is why the 5yrs is recommended...

so even if your car has done only 2375km you still change the belts at 5 years...
