      Car: DC2R

Noise: a hallowing sort of grinding noise from the left hand front of the car whilst the car is in motion... sounds like a bearing or bush of some sort... i dont kno i never noticed it as i always drive with windows open and some music but a friend of mine pointed it out...

whats the best way to find out what it is for sure???

      Cause: in prtogress..

Possible wheel bearing or brake pad. Remove wheel and rotate listening for noise. Does the noise happen only on braking or all the time? Generally a failed wheel bearing will cause alot of heat due to increased friction.

Oh, you must be Dan's mate. I saw him this morning at Waitara McDonalds and he said you just bought a DC2 with a couple of wierd noises.

You will need to press the bearing out. Best to get a mechanic to do it. The part itself should only cost about $80 but you will need to remove the hub and knuckle.

Any bearing supplier should be able to get you one. I got mine from Northshore Bearing in Hornsby.

                    Car Type - DC5S

Weird Noise - Creaking and clanking noises from the rear of car

Probable Cause - Suspension is probably too stiff and as I go over bumps on the road it starts creaking. An excuse to start buying strut bars and such to lessen the noises.

They won't do anything to prevent that as it's spring load. Alot of coliovers do it. That shouldn't stop you getting tower bars though.

                        Noise:
hissing noise during acceleration then it disapears after 4k rpm.

                        Cause:
no idea, maby leaking exhaust, but i have had it for about three months and its a Fujitsubo RM. i have checked the exhaust and it seems firm and not moving. And the temperature doesnt seem to effect the degree of noise ..help please

                        thanks
                        thanks
It's the intake induction noise. I'm pretty sure TypeS and TypeR have PRC as stock and it does make a slight hissing noise at 2k->4k. I had a base before this and I never heard the hissing noise before.

So there is no solution to at least minimising the noise..

                          thanks for the reply.

got a loud squeaking noise coming from the engine bay when i press the clutch in

done 157k km on original clutch. master clutch cylinder is apparently weeping but the level in the reservoir is ok.

                            any ideas?

I'd replace the clutch master cyliner before you got fluid underneath your carpet...

Not sure abt the squeaking noise though...

u need to lubricate the clutch cable,
this happens to me. i spray silicone spray on and around the cable and its stops squeaking.
                                it just dryness i think.
