    hmmm, reasons for lack of power?

    OK, so since my B20VTEC conversion over 18 months ago - i have been bitching that "it feels nothing like my old B20VTEC"

    well, i installed larger injectors, bigger fuel pump, i sorted the valve seat job (it was rough!), got a PowerFC, thought i might have got *dodgy* ITR cams (96 version) and finally i have bothered to measure something:



    yes, that is the OUTSIDE DIAMETER of my cat back exhaust!

    2.0in!!! same size as B16A OEM exhaust!

    no wonder my car is so damn quiet!!!

    my old B20VTEC had a 2.5in ID system, and howled like banshee and ripped 13 second 1/4 miles...

    so i think i have to sort this ASAP if i am to catch up to Jason on the supersprint championship!!

        Ha ha, you are choking the bugger!

        With a 2.0 maybe you could even try a 3 inch exhaust? I spoke with Hakan at Performance Exhaust Northmead and he seemed very good. Has some good recommendations on Ozhonda. Of course there is westside and fussy's as well. But Hakan seemed very knowledge and looked like quality work.

          yeah, sure did, it was bugging me hard after Oran Park, i got a 53.7s there in my old LS integra, and only managed a 53.0s in the DC2...

          i was sure there was somethign simple that i was simply missing - thought that an upgrade to the air flow was required, and was considerign a 2.5in upgrade (ie 63mm) and thought i shoudl measure the one on now...

          when i saw the size i was soooo simple!

          i bought it off JSL - it is a "HKS Super Dragger", which i had assumed was a 58mm exhaust...

          it is actually only a 50mm

              i really just need a local shop to press bend a 2.5in cat back and pick a 2.5in muffler up off a forum, (probly ozhonda LOL!)

              no point in any JDM fancy stuff, as my headers require a non-stock fitment (header flange was removed to reduce restriction - ironic isn't it!) and require any "bolt-on" cat back to be cut and welded...

                If you get a press bent cat back isn't the diameter of the piping going to be less than what is already on there and thereby still restrict your power? You could get a custom mandrel bent exhaust and just get it in mild steel rather than stainless steel to save money.

                As a funny aside, without reading your post, when I read the thread name I immediately thought, "no turbo" lol.

                  well, probably not really...

                  press bent 2.5 would be about 2.3 - 2.4 as the curves on the DC2 are no more than 30-40 degrees...

                  but Jase has offered to hook me up with a 2.5in mandrel bent b-pipe that is spare, so will probably use that...

                    well, after my disappointing effort at oran park, i was actually checking out a GT28 turbo kit on ozhonda...

                    but then got back to reality and decided to get back to the basics of air flow modification and logically determine the basis of my apparent lack of power...

                    started my analysis with the most fundamental aspect - "exhaust internal diameter" - and stopped there!!!

                          Hakan's work is pretty good, compared to the couple I have seen. He's pretty detailed and takes pride. He built my catback.

                            can i ask how much you paid?

                            were mandrel bends used?

                            i wil probly keep my existing muffler - i measured it today, it has a 2.5in pipe connecting it (over the axle), then the B pipe is only 2in to the resonator and 2in to the cat flange...

                            very weird!
