After watching my leaking power steering pump for years I finally decided to change it for a new one . Ran into a problem removing the old pulley , so I've fitted the new pump and fitted the oil lines is it safe to drive like this ? Will it destroy my power steering system ? Any help would be greatly appreciated .

It will be fine, but your steering will be heavy. Have you already filled it with P/S fluid?
If there is no fluid it will be a bit easier and won't do any damage short term. If it is filled then steering will be very hard, but again wont do any damage. -
