    B18C Compression Test

    Hi guys,

Just wondering what the best way to do a compression test is on a B18C motor. I've done some reading and obviously it's pretty similar to other cars however my questions are:

    - What is the expected PSI in the cylinders, I've read around 200 is what you want for these motors
    - How do you prevent the fuel from going in as you crank the motor i.e. is it best to disconnect a fuse, cam angle sensor? Or is it ok to leave them plugged in - I would've thought that it would flood the motor

If I've missed anything please feel free to educate me!

    Thanks

    - 180-200psi
    - you remove the ecu fuse or you connect a wire from 12V to the starter and manually crank it

(it really sounds like you need to google soem more... try checking out some youtube vids?)

      Thanks Tinkerbell.

I'm aware of the process however each engine is different and couldn't really find much on B18's specifically - thanks for the link.

How would I run a compression test with the motor out of the car?

        Motor has transmission

          remove sparkplugs,
          attach comp tester
attach battery -ve to gearbox, hold battery +ve to starter motor,
          read reading
          repeat 4 x
