    Fitting Shift boots.

    Hi fellow members,

i'd like to know how can i fit a type R shift boot onto a FL type S console, to replace the old shift boot etc.

I hear that to replace shift boot, you must buy a type R shift boot set including cup tray? is this true?

are there any other methods/ways so that i dont have to replace the whole set and just replace the shift boot itself?

    Thanks in advance!

You can buy a boot for type s from ebay that looks similar to the r. It's really annoying to install and needs patience and surgical equipment

You do not need to buy the console and tray. As Preet said, just buy the shift boot and to fit it, you remove the top bit of your shifter console and grap trim removal tools and pop out the trim ring around the boot. Then undo the staples holding the boot in and take it out. Replace. Staple. Replace trim ring. Done.

Just made it a lot easier lol, the leather was heaps thicker than stock. Looks mad once done though!

changing the boot on a type-s is very easy.
no special trim tools required to remove, just slide the compartment forward exposing the cup holders, then grab the plastic at the top edge and pull up..
the hardest part i found was removing the chrome trim to get the leather boot in as the leather boot is thicker than the oem boot..

You can get a shift boot collar from ebay for under $15

            Good luck with it..
