    DC5R O2 Sensor Replacement

    Hey crew hope we're well

I have put my stock exhaust back onto my car and I've thrown a CEL. The car mechanic indicated that the O2 censors are bust and need replacing.
I was quoted a $ figure that I'm not prepared to pay and can see that O2 censors are available on eBay for 1/4 the asking prices in Aus.
My question is, can someone please link me to the correct O2 censor on eBay. I've been given the following part numbers from my mechanic.
I have been told that I need both O2 censors, pre and post cat.

    Pre Cat O2 Censor - Part Number: 365 31 PRB 801
    Post Cat O2 Censor - Part Number: 365 32 PRB 801

Any details on how I can replace these on the cheap would be appreciated.

    Cheers yo!

According to the Denso catalogue here, the part numbers you need are 234-9005 for the primary and 234-4360 for the secondary. Haven't used either so can't confirm fitment, but Amazon and eBay say they're the right part. A search on eBay or Amazon for those part numbers would probably be the cheapest way to get them. Then all you need is a 22mm spanner and a strong arm to change them over.

Have you tried to pull the code yourself? You would be unlucky to have both go at the same time

What do you mean? As in theres a way to figure out which one is busted?
My mechanic said he wasn't sure which one was fucked - maybe i should get a different mechanic?

If I recall correctly, it should say it's either the primary or the secondary sensor.

                  Felix is correct.

For a primary (pre cat) failure, codes spat could be:
                  P0134, P1166, P1167, P1157, P1158, P1159, P1162, P1163, P1164.

For a secondary (post cat) failure, codes spat could be:
                  P0137, P0138, P0139, P0141.

If you decide to read the codes yourself,
Cel flashes would be for the primary, either 41, 48 or 61.

For secondary, Cel flashes would be either 63 or 65.
                  Hope this helps!

                        Hey guys,
Following on from above.. I had the primary 02 sensor codes come up on the diagnostic when I took it to the mechanic. They also quoted me a ridiculous price...
I did some research and purchased a denso part number 234-9006 on eBay as it said it was for my car. I have a base model dc5.. When I got my exhaust done and new cat put in I got the guy to replace it with the new sensor above.... This was 3 days ago.. And my engine light is still on... Can someone pls help me or give me advice on what I should have done? Thanks!

I hope that was a typo...I replaced mine earlier this year with DENSO 234-9005...
I'm not sure if there's a major difference between the two but thats what i'm using..
Also, ensure you reset the ecu/cleared the code. Sometimes people have issues with the code staying even after the issue has been fixed. Hasn't happened to me personally but 2nd hand information.

Nope that's not a typo..... I'm not sure i just had a look and people says it's the length that is the difference? I am not sure - but my dc5 is only the base model auto - that's why I held back on getting the 234-9005 denso like you said because when I was looking people who purchased that part had type-r or type-s..
I have already disconnected the battery and waited a while and connected it again... still coming up? Maybe I was supposed to get the other part number....

There is a difference in base v Type r/s
To my knowledge, Base dose not use a 'wideband' style primary sensor.
where the R and S have primary widebands and can calculate A/R ratios.

                              hope this helps
