Info Request: Buddyclub Spec 1, 2 or 3 Cams for K20

    Hey Gang,

Centrax are currently running a special...

$1900 for BC Spec 1/2/3 Cams + Valve Springs + Installation.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on these Cams. What would be the expected tuned enhancement in performance across the rev-range in power and torque?

Not that I can afford it, just wanna know what I'm missing out on

in the most general explaination cams usually vary the power band
valve springs gives you ability to rev higher more reliably, usually in the case of k20a around 9000rpm .

so given the right combo of cam and valve springs ur power band can be increased

my revlimit is currently set to 8750 without cams. that said, evan, the hondata distributor in QLD who has a JDM DC5R has his revlimit set to 9000rpm, so i could get there as i am - how reliable/risky, i'm not sure.

what do u mean by "vary the powerband"?

I though our car required ti retainers as well to safely rev to 9k?

Ti just makes the valvetrain lighter... so it is easier to rev higher...

that is, OEM retainers are just as *safe* but might not allow the engine to rev as high as Ti retainers could...

additionally, Ti retainers wear faster than OEM and will need replacing much sooner than OEM ones...

You need the BC dual valve springs and retainers to be able to rev to 9 safely (BC valvesprings and retainerts are rated safe for up to 9.5k). Stock valvetrain is only good for 8600. As for which cam to get, it all depends on how much of an aggressive setup you want. I already posted dyno plots of the spec 1 cams in this forum section. I have the spec 3 cams on right now and going to dyno tune in September so If you have patience you can wait for that.

its not worth skimping out on retainers and springs..

I agree with tofuR. Since u opening up the head, might as well do them all at once - like the saying goes DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.

Choosing which spec is a tough one. I myself r in d same boat as you r, can;t decide which spec to use for my project car.

But for ur case is different cos U have JDM K20A - scores a more aggressive cam compare to AUDM K20A2. So spec 1 maybe is jus a little more aggresive if not, the same. So this will probably leave with ur choice between spec 2 or 3.

                      goodluck with it all.

i heard that BC is very similiar to TODA cams
i've heard good and bad from people about BC
got BC exhaust was about to get BC racing spec. coilovers but something about BC i'm put off by them

anyways i'd rather the crower cams 1/2 *drool*

Sangers, have you got any bottom end work done?

Are you looking to run Quad throttle bodies?

Have you got any intention to run a full ecu (hondata/k pro isnt a full ecu imo) like Motec/Autronic?

                              no x3.

im actually pretty happy with the amount of power my car is putting out. albeit i have gotten use to it now, but i don't really "need" anymore. i just hate to pass up a bargain/good opportunity.
