B18a?

Hey guys... My friend came across a magazine article that mentioned a B18A engine. As far as I know there is no such thing. Only a B16A2 and B18C is what I can think about, that is close enough to a B18A.

Doing a few searches on the net tells me that they do exist, although there is very little infomation, and specs about this type of engine. If anyone knows what this engine is.. or what it is like (specs etc), also what Honda's it comes in, can you please discuss!

I always thought a B18A was a GSI engine. Couple of references here.

"LS VTEC is the bottom end of an LS motor usually out of a 94-01 integra B18A or B18B with the head off of a VTEC motor B18C B16. But the switch is not as simple as taking the one off and putting the other on. But once accomplished it is well worth it. It is basically a cheaper way to put a VTEC motor into a non VTEC car because you only have to buy a head, a solenoid, oil lines and a couple of other things, instead of the entire motor."

B18A came in the DA9 teg from '89 till '93.

B18B came in the DC4 teg.

Cool banana! Is there anything different of cool about the B18A opposed to the B18C? Or is it a shittier motor, pretty much as chuck described.

um, well, a lack of VTEC is one of the major downfalls of the B18A, i guess

this shows most "1st generation" B series engines, eg the B16A, B18A and B17A...

the B18B and B18C and B16B are all "2nd generation" B seris engines

didnt top fuel or toda have a piston/stroker kit to increase displacement for the b16a? from 1.6l to 1.8?

B18A with a Vtec head make a very good engine but for some reason there are not many done in this country.

I have a b18a in my garage. Considering building bottom end with vtec head (eagle vtec kit). As a budget banger. something basic like this HAHA

the b18a/b is cheaper..
if i had a Dc4 i would have slapped on a dohc vtec head.. it will also run slightly higher comp and larger in CC than a b18c2.
