New gearbox. What/not what to do?

Hey all. I just had a gearbox freshen up with new bearings and seal.

I was planning to change the oil in 1-2k klm. Dedy said as long as i change within 5k klm i will be fine. I will change it around 2k anyways.

Is there anything i should do with the car or thongs i ahould avoid

Out of curiousity Alex, what's the background behind changing the fluids so early?
Is it to flush out any remaining metal shards that may be there from removing all the old bearings etc.?

this is done by the mechanic, on the work bench.

there should be NO metal shards left in a gearbox that is 'freshen up' by a professional.

just follow your mechanics instructions pLaything

Understood that there should be nothing left by the mechanic. A complete teardown and clean would guarantee nothing left but im sure dedy woildve done a thorough clean and check.

Im more curious as to why there is a run in period etc when only 6th gear is the only new item in the box.

yeah, there is no run-in period for a properly assembled gearbox.

What synchros did you use? Synchrotech carbon synchros take approx 600miles to bed in, so I always tell my customers to change oil at 1000km after the rebuild

Just out of curiosity, how much did he charge you for labor for the gearbox rebuild?
