    Dc5r gearbox problem

    Hey guys,
Background: I changed the clutch, flywheel, rear main seal back in June 2011 when the car was around 100,000km. The clutch was an Exedy racing stage 1 heavy duty clutch with an Exedy lightened Forged Chromoly Flywheel. I have tracked the car about 6 times since 2011, but I have always changed the oils/filters whatever right after.

Right now the gears are harder to put in, and it crunches at times when putting it in. I went to my mechanic who installed it and another mechanic; both said that I need to take the box out again, to find out whats the problem. When opening the gearbox inspection plate, they both said that the pressure plate or flywheel (can't recall what he said) looks hammered. One mechanic said that maybe its my "pressure plate, fork or pivot" that is playing up.

I was wondering what could be the problem as I don't want to take the gearbox out again once they install it all. I have also bled the clutch fluid and changed the gearbox fluid, and the problem still exist.

My mechanic said that I need:
    -Clutch Kit
-Replace the rear main seal again
-New Flywheel? Can a lightened flywheel be machined? I dont want to buy a new one...
-Fork and Pivot? Where can I buy this from?
-Spigot bearing? Is this the same as a 'release bearing' that you get in a clutch kit?

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated. Thanks!!

How many kilometers are now on the car?

It does sound as if the pressure plate is starting to collapse. Best bet would be take the car to James @ Extreme Project World and get him to have a look it at for you

Won't worry about new RMS when the current RMS only 2.x year old. If it was still the orig one from factory then yeah.

You would want to machine flywheel esp when it has plenty of hotspots and build ups on it. Yes Cr-Mo flywheel can be machined/grinded with diamond tipped machines and not the usual machining tools that machine rotors and cast flywheels. Need to find out who does that in your city.

Unless your clutch fork is damaged, it only needs dabs of grease at the contact points.

spigot/pilot bearing is the small bearing in the middle of your flywheel, cheap at $5-10 at your local bearing shop nothing special about them.

The answer is yes, you need to remove the gearbox to solve the problem, if your mechanic can't fix it properly the first time, stop using him.

It is now 131,000km, only been 30,000km since the last clutch change. Yeah I was thinking if the pressure plate is ruined I might as well change the clutch again since the box is out.

Sorry but what is RMS? Well the mechanic said that since the box is coming out I might as well buy a new clutch fork/pivot. Thanks for the confirmation about the machining of the Chromo Flywheels! I will check with the guy if he has the diamond cut.
