    Ground Control spring rates?

    G'day all,

Looking to ship a set of koni yellows + ground control soon and wonder what spring rates should I be getting?
    OTS rates?

It's a DD with some spirited driving around mountains at times. Maybe some tracking later.
I wouldn't mind sacrificing a bit of comfort with better handling.

    Cheers!

IMO get coilovers! Bc br/silvers neomax! They're comfy for daily driving and when you want to do mountain driving, just stiffen the damper up abit!

Serious! Koni/GC is a long time proven combination.

Any personal experience with either of those brands? I had BC on another car, and while I couldn't fault their longevity the damper adjustment only adjusted between harsh and bouncy, and just harsh.

What car do you have mate? Pretty hard to recommend rated without knowing that. IMO though the GC off the shelf rates are far too soft for any decent performance use.

after some research i believe koni and gc are better for me compared to most entry lv coilovers

In that case from what I understand the the Koni yellows will only tolerate up to a particular spring rate. I've got no idea what that rate is, best to ask GC or Koni. I'd go the maximum spring rate they can tolerate at the rear, and maybe 2/3 to 3/4" of that at the front. From what I've read you'll need to keep the ride height quite high, otherwise they'll bottom out and the front shocks will die very quickly as the shock stroke at the front is very limited.

yea im not planning to lower the ride too much. it appears due to the design of the suspension lowering it too much affects the performance really bad.
              around 1-1.5 inch tops.

just trying to figure out what spring rates are a decent tradeoff between comfort and performance. for some reason can't seem to find threads regarding this information.

              cheers

You want them in lb or kg? I think around the 500 is a good starting point. Good thing with this set up is its rather easy to just over new spring rates.

Drove in a car running koni race/GC with eaters up around 800-900. Was nice but a little to aggressive for daily street driving

lbs seeing that i'll most likely order from the states.
doing some research most suggest koni's suggest to set them at 500lbs MAX haha.
it seems anymore would be blown shocks.

Get the next step up from the yellows if budget allows. I don't know the exact specs but they are much better than a "sport" shock.

i wish i had a bigger budget too haha.
seems like i'll have to try dig up more old treads for my answer.

ha ha - no, not specific enough.

                              "spirited driving" = subjective
"might be tracking" = you will need to change the rates when you make the decision (and shocks probably)
"sacrifice comfort for handling" = double subjectiveness

in handling - there are always trade-offs,

but have you been in any other cars to compare what they have for spring rates??
