Help with induction

Hey all

I was changing my induction hose and tried to pull off one of the tube. Unfortunately the plastic bit broke off as i pulled too hard.
Just curious what is the black cylinder thing (part name?) as shown in the picture that supposed to get air from induction hose? Possible for me to actually order a new one from dealer?

To this! So what is that? If i tape it blocking the dirt from going into the hole till tomorrow I drive it down to dealer, would that be ok?

Problem solved. It is idle air assist valve which is very popular for people in US to delete this with a hex plug or with K-tuned AAV delete kit $20 from US.
Well at least a tape covering up the hole wont harm me at this stage. Probably will delete this ugly looking valve so bay looks better.

You can buy a plug for a few bucks from any fitting place. Don't need the K tuned one. You will need two rubber caps as well.

The Idle air assist valve's function is to allow more oxygen to the intake manifold for combustion on startup (idle) to help the engine reach optimum operating temperature quicker. Once the car's temperature rises, so does the coolant temperature. The "plug" is part of this system, and under increase temperature, pressure also increases and pushes a valve inside that "plug" to rise and block off any additional oxygen entering via that plastic tube that you broke off. So once the car is somewhat warmed up, the valve becomes redundant. It is only there as the name has suggested, to assist idle. I'll be honest, I broke mine of when I first changed my GruppeM, and I just used some metal cement poxy to wrap around it. You could attempt to epoxy glue it up. It will not be dentrimental if you drove it to the dealership, but be warned that those plugs are not sold seperately without the whole housing.
