Noises when steering. DC5

Hey, I have noticed I get weird noises like a clunk when I turn my steering wheel. I know Im not rubbing or anything as I'm running stock height and wheels.

Anyone have a suggestion what this could be ?

Is it a constant clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk or just a 1 of clunk? If you raise the car with a jack so no pressure on wheels does it still clunk?
Best to take off the front wheels and make sure everything is tight under there, top up power steering fluid if need be.

How do I explain this.. Turn right once, one clunk, turn the other one clunk. But it doesn't happen all the time.

While stationary.. If its a CV joint, how much would that cost..

Hmm, i used to have this problem, car would clunk stationary when i had stock suspension. After i got coilovers it went away, having said that, flippit said to take off front wheels and check for anything loose. Not sure how much CV joints cost, you'll have to call around.

Cv joints is most likely the cause it has happened to me in the past but with my other cars.

For dc5r they are usually $150-200 for a set. Best bet is to try find someone that is wrecking one cheaper option.
Also could be your bearing as well.

Awww man.. Sounds expensive.. Is this possible for a DIY job ? And price for bearings ? :/

Sounds like CV or possible ball joint. I would check these and go from there

A video on youtube from a civic but iam sure you can find a dc5 one same concept though.. hardest bit is removing the big locking nut.

Would I need to replace the whole CV axle or just the joint in your opinion ?

Thing is dude, wreckers are not going to sell you just the joint they usually sell the entire axle.Unless someone here can help you out on a joint but you need to look into the actual problem first. So best option is to buy the axle and replace the whole thing.

Okay guys, I've check the ball joints and cv joints but nothing seems to be out of place. The CV joints are nicely sealed up and no cracks in the boots. But its only when I steer right, I get that one clunk noise. While moving and stationary.

Any ideas ?
