These batteries can supply larger amounts of current in short transients than a standard battery, I would think they would actually perform better for car audio systems.
i didnt state the type of battery, the battery in question was a motorcycle battery, my bad

If it was , its to do with these smaller batteries often have less reserve. So you cant sit with the car off pumping music or other accessories as long as a normal battery. Its a normal complaint from many US guys with lighter smaller batteries.
thanks! i could live with that

a lighter battery taking the weight from say 12kg to 7kg saving you about 5kg for $200 is pretty good value imo.

        that's around $40 per kg.

if i could take off 100kg for $4000 without effecting how the car looked in any way then i most certainly would!

Thats not taking into account that I needed to replace the battery anyway... so it was only around $100 more than a conventional battery.

i think the misunderstanding comes from the fact that you are stating that it lasts less, whilst freaky thinks that the Quality of the sound is actually comprimised.

            Simple misunderstanding.

the misunderstanding is about what "car audio systems" are being referred to,

in a big system with 2 x 12 in subs, 4 x 6in splits and some high wattage amplifiers, such a small battery would be useless for more than a few minutes, as once it is past its "small transients" it will be requiring big current draw through the alternator for continued operation...

that is why bigger batteries are better in BIG systems.

if you are not running an amplifier, a small battery is fine...

I made this about 4 years ago. Using a CNC Mill.

CNC'd base for perfect fit. CNC'd Hold-down, from a Pic of the TypeR sticker on the side of the Car.

All done... I just painted in with Airfix paint (made for Plastic)

                Later.

95% of new car battery chargers start trickle charging once they have finished the main charge.

it is not new/exciting/innovative/"something you have to have"...

                    ebay has many:

the *coolest* thing would be a solar trickle charger:

hahaha... I can just imagine some blonde parking their car in the garage for weeks expecting the solar trickle charger to keep them charged...

trickle charger is only good for those who dont drive there cars often, or just want to make usre the battery is always fully charged.

You would be surprised how often you use it once u get one.

If you do get one make sure its go a display which shows you the battery charge
