    Tyres, Sump and other advice.

    Hi all,

So I've managed to find a place that is able to do a set of Kumho KU36 for the same price as a set of Pirelli P-Zero Neros (Roughly $760 for a set of four)
Now, as I plan on tracking the car, do I really need a baffled sump when on semi-slicks? (Are the KU36 even a semi-slick?)

Also, has anyone dealt with Tempe Tyres? I hear their prices are good but customer service is shit, but as I'm only buying tyres and not having them freighted, it shouldn't bother me.

You won't need a baffle sump.
KU36 is a street tyre and not a semi slick.
They have a good dry performance
But they can be hard to handle in the wet from what I have heard

Thanks timmy - by wet performance, do you mean track only? Would they be okay on the street when wet?

By wet driving he means on any surface (Track, street etc)
If you take it easy on the street in the wet they should be fine.

They are a high performance summer tire, meaning good in the dry but not so good in the wet (If you are driving spiritedly)

As above, you won't need a baffle. Just check your oil level often, I used to overfill mine by 2-300mL when I didn't have a sump baffle fitted. Even the instructions for my Toda baffled sump state to overfill the oil by up to 0.5L.

The KU36 should be passable in the wet, just be as careful as you normally should be in wet conditions. You could also consider the Hankook RS3 and Federal RS-R in the same price bracket.

Ku36 are fine in the wet for street use. Wouldnt use on a wet track day or spirited street driving. If it rains. Just leave the car at home. Or drive normally and you fine!

              Thanks for that guys,

I've been calling around for a set of tires today - and I have a couple of options- which would you suggest?

              KU36 for $752 fitted
              Goodyear F1 Directional 5 for $750 fitted

I know little about tires, so what would you guys suggest and why?

I'm thinking KU36 as well. It's a softer compound too. 180 tread wear as opposed to 300
