    Extra hot CD player

    Am just putting the stock CD player back in my DC5 (just the single DIN one) when i power it up it gets very hot. I had it going for 5 min an felt the back of it i am sure it would burn me it is that hot!!! is this normal?

    I know thay are supposed to heat up a bit but this is seriously hot. I dont want to start a fire in my car. Any thoughts?

    maybe take it to a auto electrician to have a look?

      hmmm, concerning...

      sure one of the amplified outputs is not shorting to ground anywhere?

        Dont think it has amp outputs but will check if any think else is shorting out. So i take it that its not normal. Thanks for your replies

          sorry, "amp outputs" = "speaker outputs"

          the amplifier inside the CD player drives the speakers...

          the amplifier gets hot when it is passing a lot of current...

          so it would be getting hot if you were playing loud source, or had a shorted wire...
