When was the last time you changed the gearbox fluid?

agreed, i had an issue with shifting from 1st to 2nd and new mtf helped it.

Its one of the cheaper things to do first too

                Rule number:

1; Change gearbox fluid (As per M@lew earlier post), put some gear repair mixture with the fluid
2; If this doesn't solve the crunching, remove the box and inspect for damages to bearing and gears
3; If gears synchros seem to be worn or have lost teeth its time for new synchros

For the oils we use & recommend:

                Nulon Gear-repair G70
Castrol VMX80 oil should need 2-3LT in the box

As above change the fluid and take a good look at the quantity and quality of what comes out, also check all the aspects of the clutch system(throw adjustment, slave and master for leaks etc.). If the clutch isn't disengaging correctly then it could cause the issues you describe.
