    Throttle body question

    hey all

just wondering if there is any use in changing the throttle body on a dc2r, are there and huge power gains from it or any other performance related aspects. if so what brands can you guys recomend.

    cheers

I have the spoon throttle body.

With a stock intake you wont make any power gains on the dyno, but combine it with a mugen intake and you do notice a big difference. The throttle body on its own gives better response in my opinion. This would be the last mod for most people.

well i have ordered my mugen intake so i will be using that, did you need to change your ecu or can you leave the stock ecu?

i bored my DC2 TB out to 63mm from 60mm but i am running a 2 litre block...

there was no real change... (except in part throttle response)

        {EDIT - but i did not have an optimum set-up, so it is quite hard to determine the effect of the TB on peak power}

you can still run your stock ecu with aftermarket tb

spoon is same ID as OEM throttle body,

the only difference is the tpaer from 70mm to 62mm - this creates a venturi effect speeding up airr flow as it passes the throttle opening...

does your car already have intake, headers and exhaust? (i know it has intake, but what headers?)

well the intake is coming soon and headers should be here this week, i have bought 5ZIGEN 4-2-1 headers and will keep stock exhaust until i can afford soemthing else if needed.

                    LOL @ keep stock exhaust.

this is the order you shoudl modify:

                    1. exhaust
                    2. intake
                    3. headers
                    4. ECU
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .
                    .15. throttle body

haha...i will eventually change the cat-back, i just need to save up a bit before i go buy one and i wan to make sure its exactly what i want.

so you reckon i should get a ecu?, is there much to tune though?

Hey Harry, there was a member on here who tuned a stock car and his power graph looks pretty neat

I am quite sure the header upgrade will make more power than just an upgraded catback. Obviously both at the same time is the ideal solution.
