    Cooling

I found on long hwyway drives "110 km/h just under 4g rpm" that my radiator temp is 80 degrees and my oil temps 97 degrees..

Now because the thermo stat starts to open at 78 degrees i was thinking im i stopping the stock oil cooler from working probably?? Would it be safe to change to a j's racing thermostat.. Which starts to open at 68 dgrees.. Or would that be to cold.. Help guys.. Thanks..

if you are only at 80 degrees on the freeway, then you already have a low temp thermostat, or a poorly placed temperature sender...

    low temp thermostats are baaaaaad.....

EDIT: or your thermostat is broken

have a look at page 10-4 of the manual and try to work out if the oil cooler will be affected by the t.stat being closed...

Oem i assume.. Also yes i have looked at that.. My understanding of that is if the thermostats closed it prevents the circulation of the radiator fluid.. there for rendering the oil cooler useless.... Am i incorrect.. if so please explain!!

I had a slight front collision and the radiator was changed to a piece of crap from the insurance company. So i replaced it with a koyo.. Why would i check the themostat when i never had a issue.. other then it always running 90 to 95 degrees because of the shit radator

So the oil to radiator heat transfer is in operation at all times even when thermostat closed??

Dont think thermostats stuffed.. Bottom hose stays cold untill 80 degrees

you can see the oil cooler attaches to the block and takes coolant from the 'pressure' side engine block and puts it back into the engine block on the water pump 'suction' side.

FYI - it is designed to heat up the oil quicker too... (i.e. it is a oil temperature stabiliser, not just a oil cooler...)
