    Exedy Clutches

    Hai guyz,

Need a new clutch for my DC5S. What's the difference between the US Exedy Stage 1 clutch kits (part 08806) shown here:

and the Aussie Sports Organic clutch kit (part HCK-7369SO) here?:

Obviously they look different but in terms of stiffness etc.

Also will all US clutches for RSX-S fit a DC5S?

    Thanks

I've done abit of research in regards to the Aus spec Stage 1 Sports Organic Clutch (HCK-7369SO) and the USA Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit (08806).

Essential they have the same dimensions and spec
USA Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit (08806) Specs
    Disc Outer Diameter 215mm
    Spline Teeth / Major Diameter 24T / 26 mm

Aus Stage 1 Sports Organic Clutch kit (HCK-7369SO)
    Size, Spline OD & No. of Teeth 215 x 26 x 24

However, I have emailed the respective companies to confirm whether they are indeed the same product. This is important as the exedy selling in aus is at least $200 more than the USA.

They're exactly the same, I'm running one and it bites hard

If your after something with bite, then go for a Stage 2 Ceramic. Stage 1 Organic will be bitey for the first 500km or less and then after it just wears in with the flywheel because of new clutch and machined or new flywheel. I kinda regretted and only got the Stage 1 for my DC5R, but it was only a replacement due to worn clutch n flywheel.

I emailed US and AU Exedy and still haven't received any response. I gave Exedy Aus a call and the dude had no idea bout the differences.

Now i'm a total noob with clutches and even I can tell just from visual inspection that they do not look the same (6 springs in Aus part compared to 4 in US?). Why is this, and does this effect operation at all?

Na I just want something marginally stiffer than OEM.

6 springs is the side facing tranny I believe , in the pictures both sides have been taken know what I mean?

They are the same clutch branded/coded differently get coloured abit differently and build quality might be abit different again.

              Stage 1 is OEM

Second pic looks like an Heavy duty or sport organic

I have the US stage 1 clutch and it's the same as sports organic here, higher clamp load then OEM. Regret getting it should have bought ceremetallic...

Lol. Derp i should have known.

Thanks for the info guys, might go the US stage 1 then.

Why all the regrets tho? Is the difference between stage 1 and oem really that negligible? It's going to be for a daily driver anyway and I'm worried a stage 2 will kill me in constant start-and-go traffic.

Care to elaborate? I love my OEM clutch, and would probably just go for the slightly upgraded sports organic Exedy shown above if I ever upgraded it to retain similar feel to stock. I don't have many horsepowers though.

The stage 1 I bought feels almost OEM except it smells like burning all the time. I feel it takes a bit too long to grab and the wear I feel through the pedal is a bit questionable. For 90% of ppl it's great but I want something a little more aggressive

I believe that changing to a civic SI cmc will improve the clutch feel and shifting too.

Just to clarify, I just received my US Exedy clutch and BOTH sides have 4 springs (as opposed to 6 springs in the AU version). So they are indeed different. Would like to know how this affects operation.

Hopefully stil won't have any issues fitting a DC5S.
