    DC5R Questions!

    Hello Fellow CITR members,

I shall be picking up my DC5R tomorrow, although the modding won't start for awhile so my bank account can catch back up I do have a few questions to ask, I know i could probably get these answered by doing a couple of searches which i have but still some unclear things

The car has an Injen Short Ram intake. First off anyone know how much these sell for second hand?? Is it true that the short rams have a better crossover then a long ram since they are shorter pipe? Is there much chance of hydralock with the longer bumper types? Also are these hard to install without removal of bumper?

IS 8.5" as wide as you can front and back comfortably or will guard rolling be required?

    BC's or Silver Neo coilovers??

More questions soon but my boss is watching me at work ahaha!

Brand new Injen SRI sell for about 250 delivered from US. So less than that with respect to condition and age.

SRI isnt subjected to hydrolocking like the CAI. With a CAI you def have the chance of hydrolocking your car in rainy weather. I've read some threads of people's theories of how to overcome this, but have never tried it myself.

Yes CAI is harder to install since you need to remove your front bumper + cut part of it.

I've heard/read only good reviews about BC coilovers. I think they are considered your bang for buck mod.

Short rams are louder, particularly at crossover but you are right to try to offload it at first opportunity. Can't comment on hydrolock but you will find it very difficult to install a USDM style pod filter on a pipe cold air intake without taking the front bumper off. You have to remove the passenger side brake duct and the windscreen washer reservoir, I can't see that happening with the bumper on.

You may be able to fit an 8.5 at the rear without guard rolling but probably not with a 245 or wider tyre. If you modify your guards then the sky is the limit, it is up to you what you are comfortable doing to the car to fit wheels.

There are better choices out there.

The reason why I say able to install with bumper on is because i spoke to the boys at Shift performance and for around $100 they can install it with bumper on. The injen kit comes with the washer bottle to fit also!

Regarding coilovers the car would not be seeing much track work but In saying that I would like to do a wakefield and marulan track day.

With rims im still deciding 17's or 18's. i think 17's look just a tad too small but then with 18s the price for tyres does increase. For now I will remain with stock wheels possibly with a lick of black paint. I don't want to touch the wheel arches much. Rolling yes other than that i don't really want to touch!

Is +35 offset the way to go?

          Stick to 17's.
