    Car alarm gone berserk

Hi guys. Need some help. Here is the situation. I pressed my usual immobilizer de-activator switch which opens my doors and lets me start up my car. But the moment I pressed it, the car alarm went berserk . I disconnected my battery and left it for awhile in an attempt to maybe reset my ECU just incase if it was the ECU's fualt, but had no luck there. The darn thing just kept on going nuts. So instead of calling RAC to come out which might cost me for a call out fee, I decided to drive it back (1100pm) with the alarm going nuts all the way . Half way home, the alarm just turned off by itself. Mind you, the whole time the alarm was going nuts, my hazard lights were flashing the same time, and also a small red light was flashing on the bottom left in between the fuel and rpm meter. As I pulled up my house, I quickly opened my bonnet (car has not stopped yet) and the alarm went off again. I've had to disable the battery to literally stop the sound. Question now is,

1 - How do we disable the damn car alarm
2 - What is the source of the problem?

If I could get some help that would be great, as I need to drive it next monday to get all my other parts put in and i'd hate to be driving it with the alarm going nuts during peak hour traffic.

I forgot to mention, I did recently change the battery (1 week ago). Would that cause a short-circuit?

    Anyone?

I found the security unit in the car. Just behind the clutch pedal (picture from google). If I take it out, will the car still be able to function?

The aussie dc2r doesn't have that same alarm module as the us ones IIRC.

Is your alarm stock or aftermarket ? I didn't think there was a stock one.

The Audm has a immobilizer through the chipped key.. Thats it, No siren nothing.. If its a after market alarm goin through a siren just cut the cable and yank it out.. Disconnecting the model to the alarm will cause the car not to start... Maybe there's a poped fuse to the alarm??? Other than that find the wirering diagram for the alarm and by pass it!!!!

I'm trying to find the wire thats connected to the alarm. I've found the wiring diagram but thats the same one as above, which is connected to the security module.

Gone ahead to disable the darn thing in the front right hand side. Had to take off the front bar. Its now at auto-electritions. Lets see what magic they can do.

Yes. Taking it to honda wouldn't be a bad idea. Only problem would be how much they charge in terms of labour cost just to get it checked out. Why not take it an auto-electriciation who specialises in car electrics? I'm sure honda would turn around to me and tell me to change the whole thing if they couldn't find whats wrong. Happened before. "Your only option is to buy a new ECU"

Is it the horn or an siren?

DC5R stock immobilizer is the car horn. It's function is also fairly basic, in that it'll only start beeping if the doors are locked, and then unlocked without the key, and the door opened.

Most aftermarket alarms use a seperate siren.

True honda charges more.. But you also need to think that all hondas are built simulair and they work on them every day, Also it may be a comon problem so they might no what it is before they look.. I took my car to them to get the idling fixed, also asked them for a quote to fix the heater as it wasnt workin,, In 1/2 a hour i got my car back, charge 100 for the idle fix and they reconected a loss connetion on the heater, A auto electricain would most likly milk it and charge you heaps for the easest thing!!!! My self being a tradie... I don't trust mechanics, auto electricain, or any type or trade... That's why i take it to honda as they have a name to up hold!!!

I suppose everybody has good/bad experiences with Honda dealers. I personally have had bad ones in the past and rather not do things through them. Yes they service alot of hondas, but keep in mind the servicemen are also mechanics of the trade. There are also alot of mechanics out there that specialise in Honda vehicles.

Just found out the alarm system I have in my car is aftermarket.

Problem - Two alarm systems working independently of each other. OEM Alarm was disabled when I got ownership of the vehicle and the aftermarket one took over. However with the recent change of new battery, the system somehow reset and OEM Alarm was working again. Now both alarms are working. I need to disarm the aftermarket one first then use the key and manually perform the "opening" door motion with it to disarm the OEM Alarm. Abit of a hassle, and abit confused as to why the previous owner had installed an aftermarket one when it worked just fine.
