(EP3) Off smell around fuel pump area - fuel pump on its way out or blocked cat or ?

Thought Id scratch some heads -
my gf sat in the back yesterday , with no rear seat ( long story short transported a door to bunnings and back) and she complained of a noticeably off smell from around or inside the fuel pump enclosure. Yes - there is fuel but it seems abnormal.

Any idea as to why this is happening on a EP3 ? Possible fuel pump issue or ?

Car otherwise drives fine no hiccups.

Definitely not exhaust fumes coming up from under the floor Ben?

old/bad batch of fuel can smell quite foul ive found benny

try a different brand of fuel next tank and see if there is any change
