After a bit of reading on the forum, I brought a set of Kumho KU31 from option1garage.com.au, the tyres turned up this morning which is nice and quick.

But to my surprise the tyres actually got made in Vietnam on it. I thought it should be made in Korea!??

Can anyone confirm before I take it to the seller?

When I was looking at tirerack and I was considering between the two.

Z1 is the ex flagship road tyre of Dunlop and AD08 is the current flagship road tyre of Advan. I remeber seeing a review of the tyres of these tyres vs'ing each other and the pros could squeeze out a 1/2 a second from the AD08 over the Z1 (or something similar)

I doubt amateues like us would be able to feel the difference so in the end the Z1 was much better value (25% cheaper for the 17" I was looking at).

I just got a set of RE001's fitted & balanced (195/55/15) for $500 from Bridgestone Tyre Centre Hornsby. Plus they gave me a $50 voucher for coles when I was leaving. Bonus.

i personally got a set of Z1 SS in 195/55/15 from tire rack a couple of months ago when the currency was still quite strong. the total cost was $660AUD including shipping. I was quoted $230 per tyre from Dunlop in Coburg Melbourne, which is the only place that did motorsport tyres. They did not have them in stock but were able to order them in at the mentioned price and it would take 5-6 weeks. Tire rack took around 5 business days. You can email tire rack or call them up.

I installed the tyres at Centreline Thomastown for $15 each fitted and balanced. Which brings the price up to $180 per tyre. I saved $50 per tyre, $200 in total.

The Z1s are an awesome tyre. They hold up well on track and are really grippy on the street, but I would agree that they are quite noisy. They are fine in the wet provided you don't push them too hard. Considering I've put them through 8,000 road kms and one track day, tread is still quite deep.

Perhaps if you name your budget it would narrow down your choices?

around $500-$600 maybe. for a daily with a little extra grip.
btw, quite a few people buy from tire rack eh? is it simply because it's cheaper or can't be sourced locally?
