    EK vs EG Chassis

    Hey fellas,

Soon about to do a k20 swap in one of these chassis. I will be trackng the car alot more then going down the mile.

Which car/chassis is better for the track.

The car wont be short of mods so they will be setup the same.

    Cheers

Sedan or hatch? Planning on doing anything competitive because if so the class you want to compete in will help dictate which chassis might be more suitable.

With the extent of modifications you are likely to do if you are doing a K motor I doubt the original chassis will make that much difference. The setup, engineering and driving will make more difference. Just pick the one that you like the look of. I would use an EK simply because it is a later model which means it will be in generally better condition and more reliable. More reliability means more time on track. Time on track is fun.

Or you could just buy a DC5 .

No not serious about any class just want to go set some times. Im talking about the 3door hatch.

Also the eg is lighter then the ek so obviously the eg is a better power to wieght car for the drag strip but will this also make it quicker around the track?

have you quantified how much difference it is?

to answer this - yes, the weight WILL affect: acceleration, top speed, braking and handling

Well thats exactly what i was thinking, though pointing towards the EK, makes you think that it really wont matter. But with such little weight difference im sure that it wont be the wieght that decides the times.

If your doing a K20 swap then buy the cheapest, straightest, EFI model you can find. will most likely be an EG.

No about it my friend. Buy an EK for $10k then spend $15k on a K swap or just buy a DC5 which has modern luxuries and reliability. I know which one I'd prefer.
