USDM bumper supports are mandated to be able to withstand a 5mph/8kmh impact without caving in, because of this, USDM bumper supports are much stronger and larger. Honda uses the same bumper supports world wide except for pretty much the USA.
That's why the EP3 in America has larger bumpers then the JDM/UK EP3. If you look at a JDM EP3, the bumpers hug the car VERY closely, on the USDM ep3, the bumpers bulge out a ton, also US mandates side reflectors and what not, so because the EP headlights and tail lights don't have any, USDM EP3 bumpers have these long oval lights on the front and rear where JDM/UK EP3's don't.
Same issue with the Fit, the JDM fit has a different front end that hugs the body tighter where the USDM one is larger to fit over our larger mandated bumper support. Kinda sucks.
And all our years have larger bumper supports front and back, we never got a DC5 that didn't have a rear bumper support, I'm surprised as well why Honda wouldn't put one on the rear of the 05-06 AUDM DC5. Obviously the government isn't requiring one so there isn't one!

Got some info for everyone!
From what I've been able to find through my research. The JDM DC5 only has a front instrusion bar. But if you got the JDM Type-R, the car had the front instrusion bar and a rear instrusion bar.
Thing is, the rear bar is really to stiffen the chassis, not to take an impact but it would help none the less.
As far as you aussies go. The 02-04 DC5 was sold as an ITR so it came with the front bar as well as the rear one. The 05-06 was sold as a Type-S so it only included the front bar, just like all 02-06 DC5 non-R's did in Japan.Last edited by Importtuner; 11-06-09, 03:02 PM.

NOW, I need YOUR help guys (I'm from America, lol). I need a part # for the 02-04 ITR rear intrusion bar bolt!
The USDM rear bumper support is much larger and the bolt won't work. I was wondering if someone could post up the part # for the 02-04 ITR rear instrusion bar mounting bolt.
There's 4 total, you can see them in the picture.
Thanks!
Also anybody on here willing to sell my a Australia DC5 number plate extender and ship it to the US........

As for the number plate, everyone in Australia seems to hate them, you could probably trade bumpers with someone with the same color, haha!
