      no, NO STANDING zones have been replaced with NO STOPPING zones, giving you less places to stand.

          Doesn't worry me - I don't stop in "no standing" zones anyway.

          This reminds me though, a few weeks ago I saw a parking officer booking a civilian vehicle in a "Police Vehicles Only" space. Wonder what the fine for that would have been??!!

            i think the idea is.. if they remove the right to stop the car around that area.. meen no one can use the excuse that i was stopping the car for a bit.. *while really they were planning on standing around for a bit*

            i wonder if it applies to Vic?

                Did you read the article?

                NSW parking laws are changing from 1 December 2008. To bring our system into line with the Australian Road Rules, all ‘No Standing’ zones are being removed. ‘No Standing’ zones will become ‘No Stopping’ zones.
                ...... So I guess if they are going to also adhere to "Australian Road Rules" then we could assume they are going to make the change too.
