Insurance Time Again for 2009

Okay guys, I know that there are lots of old threads about comprehensive car insurance and its been about a year anyway and lots of things change...
So this thread is started for an update of any suggestions for alternatives to cheaper car insurance...

So let us know your suggestions/secret insurance companies for our ITR's... my insurance is due in a few weeks for renewal... currently with Shannons for $1600 with max NCB, over 25, living in south-west sydney...

I'm sure we would all consider other companies (no matter how good our current insurance is) due to all the financial issues happening right now in the world... I know I'd love to save even just $400 for a year for now...

im under 25, with justcarinsurance, my insurance last year was just under $1100 and i was turning 24. so this year turning 25, im expecting it to drop under 1000, for my 2003 turbo DC5R.. get a quote, it cant hurt.

Hey mate,

Finances are an issue for everyone, but just remember how you will feel if you do need to use the service you are buying... ie. getting your vehicle repaired.

Ive recently swapped over to Shannons, im over 25 with a recovering history (last 5 years are pretty good). The car is insured for 23.5k, and i know i can take my car wherever i want if it needs to be repaired. The price came in UNDER AAMI... not sure right now how much it is... think about 1200???

I added my recently acquired bike to it yesterday and i got a further $70 off my car insurance, and the price for the bike was ridiculous!

Take a look around and make sure you know what you are buying.

With Shannons do you need a clean record? I copped a fine late last year. My first time in 5yrs.

I got quoted $2,200 at Justcar for a stock 03 DC5R. Also 24, turning 25 this year. What gives?!

The major difference in price would probably be your location.

i jus renewed my insurance in april 08 for my ITR with nrma

car insured for 20k
23yo male located in hills district sydney
clean driving record
full NCB + windscreen option
insurance history with nrma (parents and myself)

paid $1978

im gonna look into 'pay as you drive' type of insurance either with real or youi as i only drove like 3,800km last year (im practically paying 50c for every km i travel!!)

duno if they will even insure ITRs. when i have time i guess i will give them a call..

all insured for agreed value of $29k......i'll be turning 23 in april 09 and i only pay $1000....

It all depends on where you live. I checked where i lived and my neighboring suburbs, difference is anywhere between 100 to 500 dollars.

Living in bad rep suburbs is FTL.

its all good mate............

my excess in the even of an accident if its my fault is $500 normal excess + $650 which includes under 25yrs of age and sports car .......

i forgot to mention, that it helps when u know people

i got off the phone with nrma today... they wanted 5600 for my car and that was without mods!!!!!! agreed value of 18k... im a 19yo driver with no accident history...

and 3rd party was 900 dollars... :S

anyone else here whos 19yo please let me kno what ur paying and who ur with... thanx..

yeh i think the location where the car is kept and where its kept makes a huge difference. but still, double the price for the same car, when mine has a turbo, there has got to be something up. I do have rating 1 no claim bonus... but even then it wouldnt make that much difference i think?

so far we've listed: just car, gio, nrma, shannons, aami...
are there any other ones? i tried quotes from lumley special vehicles and famous too... not any better than shannons. actually lumley quoted me $1200 but agreed value was at $18000 only and i wanted something higher...

so far i'm sticking with shannons, unless u guys have any other suggestions?
