What brands are you running ?

      Give us some specs.

Im just thinking that if your sendin a lot of power to ur fronts through stock cables ur going to have a bit of a disaster further down the track.

Id runt he fronts off dedicated lines coming from the amp, use the RCA outs from the head unit to send the signal to the amp, thats how i have done it.

      But give us the brands

run it down the passenger side then in through the glove box to behind the HU, run the power cable down the passenger side as well and run the rca leads down the driver side

with that power it will be fine powering the speakers with stock cables, i've used those speakers before pushing 200wrms down stock wires and didn't cook anything

oh and with those jl speakers you need to trim abit of the door and need speaker spacers in the dc5 cos of the size

i went to bunnings to find some mdf boards for the spacer and the deepest was 16mm.
People are saying to get 3/4" which is about 19mm...anyone know where i can get some?

what do u mean trim abit of the door? you mean the speaker hole size? or depth-wise?

This isn't really as much of a problem as you seem to suggest ...

Running rear speakers from the HU is perfectly good for 90% of installations. Most modern headunits have *ample* grunt to drive rear speakers, and as you should be setting up your system to stage correctly at the front, the rear doesn't matter anywhere near as much, and needs a lot less power.

FYI ~3db increase in output = double the amplifier power. So if you have the rears attenuated to 6db less than the front speakers, the rear requires 1/4 of the amplifier output....

Rear speakers in a correctly set up system act as "fill" and provide some audio for the rear seat passengers. The system should never have more rear output than front... you don't generally listen to music facing the other way do you?

the speaker hole on the dc5 door, the hole is too small to clear the speakers frame you need to cut about 1cm off the door to fit the speakers in

you can buy those speaker spacers from most car audio shop

Unlikely. Stock speaker wire is more than sufficient in most cases...

Im guessing that 13" isn't a bottom of the range series as i thought JL only made the higher end 13" models W6 or higher ?

I would suggest you get a 500/1 for that sub, if its the sub im thinking it will rattle windows if powered correctly.

I agree with this, my rears are powered off the stock headunit and fronts off an amp.

That is when the audio gear is in the car lol

                              I was thinking 13W3 or 13W6 perhaps a W7 lol

But if its a W6 or maybe W3 i think he could benefit from a dedicated sub amp.

noodleman, I think I have ur old set-up. That thing pounds like no tomorrow.

if he had a W6 or a W7 he wouldn't be using that amp LOL
