    Respray loses value

Making plans to respray my dc2r at the moment just seeing people's thought and experiences.
I own a black dc2r right now, did a respray a year ago but the shop that did it for me just simply sprayed over it and now paints are starting to crack, making the car look real ghetto!
Thinking about respraying to CW, including engine bay.
Things i'm concerned right now is,

    1. would they get the right colour ( is there some kind of code or anything i can refer to the painter)
    2. Losing values when i sell my car (Which is not going to be another 3-4 years)

Be great to hear from members who has had experience in dealing with this kind of situation or thoughts from u guys!

I dont see it really affecting the cars value too much, though when you do sell it, if you tell them its had a respray they could think its been in a major accident or something bad enough to warrant a respray.. What happened to it anyway? My DC2R's paint is mint.

      a few people tend to think car value(1) + $ worth of mods/respray(2) = 3.

Not true. More like 1.5 or 2 at most.

Modifications are worth less installed ~ IMO strip a car back to original form and sell it that way if you can be bothered.

In this instance , 3-4 years is awhile to wait. You want to respray and enjoy your car so do it !Life is TOO short to worry about "resale value"

When i bought my car from a mechanic, the paint wasn't in all good of a condition and he offered to sprayed my whole car again for a reasonable price. The outcome was, he didn't even sand the car down, plus didn't take out all the rubber thats on the side of my doors and window and simply just sprayed over it! Paint started to crack and now it just looks ridiculous....

Keep it the original colour... simply because NHBP > CW.

But sounds like a decent respray in any colour will improve your cars' value from what you have told us.

I agree, keep it the original colour however the thing about repraying and removing every little rubber, bolt guard etc.. etc.. almost 50% of the time when they put it all back together, something will be missing
Then, when the puzzle is put back together, you will almost certainly hear little annoying cracks here and there and have a crap time trying to work out where its coming from, and what it is thats making that noise

                I would be worth less....
but man.. even if u respray it the same color i would think its worth less.

                OEM fits best.

And, do you know the price difference is spraying it NHB as compared to CW.. i can imagine it being almost double the price.

CW will require all door james to be resprayed, engine out with all engine assessories either removed or taped up.. etc etc etc..

Do it if you're gonna keep it forever and if you're going to do a complete rebuild, stripped and prepped as a show-car...

As a daily? Just keep it the same colour.
