DC5S engine oil, what to use?

    Hi Guys,

I know this might be a noob question but i just need to find out what engine oil this beast uses so i can pop out and purchase some top up engine oil. I just gave Honda Service a call and they advised when they service they give me a choice of Honda/Shell Helix Plus/Shell Helix Ultra.

I'm up for my 30,000 service soon so i was just wondering which one i should go for (if any), then i can go out and buy a top up bottle for home. Also for those Type S owners out there, which engine oil do you use?

FYI: car will be used as daily and weekend thrills. Oil will be changed every 5000km.

    Stick with HONDA FEO.

"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

well at every 5000 FEO is perfect for your use.. i dont see whats wrong with it.. but in the end its really personal preference...

and FEO is cheap as well.. especially compared to other oils off "higher" grade

some honda Type R users use Redline, some usse Castrol some use Royal purple.. im pretty sure somoe use motul as well.. and all of them seem to have perfect working cars so..

Are you talking about oil for topping up between services, or oil to use for complete oil changes?

Well i was going to buy a top up bottle for now, but im mainly asking about complete oil changes. I would assume its best to use the same type of oil for top ups as the one used for the service?

yeah you do....trying to top up with different oil will not cost damage but certainly not the best thing to do too....they may have different rating 5W-30 or 10W-40....not ideal to max different oil.....btw.....can you guys kindly fill up ur profile with ur location? thx...

              in all seriousness..

even if you Mix oils as topup.. because you had no access to buying the same type of Oil as a topup is ok..

Normal Level of oils even if mixed is still better than running LOW on oil..

but even then FEO if your car was serviced at honda would probably be the oil they be using in your car.

FEO is a 10w30.. im sure its not hard to find a similar type of oil..

Yes, but some places that arent honda sell it cheaper than honda.
